I am in Valcarlos now… it seems to me that there is « sort of a wave » already this year. I started at the same time 2 years ago. In Beilari we were 5 pilgrims, yesterday we were 16! Here in Valcarlos we were 6 and now probably 18.
A family of 4 just left because the albergue manager does...
I am trying to book in the Valcarlos albergue using Whatsapp. The albergue number is in my contact list, the number is a one with a « 6 » and it does not work, there is a message saying that the number is not registred on Whatsapp…which is obviously not the case. Anybody a bright idea ?

In December I have tried by email to book a reservation for the municipal albergue in Valcarlos for March, I received no answer. I thought that I was too early because it was still 2023, I tried again few days ago still no answer, am I still too early ?
I arrived wednesday and had a WONDERFUL first evening at Belairi It was the best way to start with a meaningful sharing between the 6 pilgrims and Joseph/Jaqueline the owners. I am now in Roncevalles after a night in Valcartos. All the conditions are just perfect.

Starting from Le Puy there are 2 ways to reach St- Privat l'Allier, one with the white and red signalisation 24 kms and another one called the ''historic'' with yellow signs (20kms). I would like to Know if someone has already been walking that historic way?
