Theft is nowhere near as bad a problem as it was in the 1990s and 2000s, but it does occasionally still happen, so it pays to have an anti-theft strategy.
Tarmac or trail, it's anyway generally uphill 'til you get past the Sierra before Santa Cilia on the Huesca variant, or 'til you finish your uphill out of Logroño towards Santiago on the Lleida one.
One silver lining is that the more you walk on, the cleaner the air gets from the incrementally...
Behind the scenes FWIW, all time stamps in software are recorded YYYY MM DD HH mm ss (and possibly further divisions of seconds if needed by the software, and certainly financial software records but does not usually make use of at least 10ths and 100ths of seconds).

Looks like still rows of bunk beds, but a lot better than it was -- they seem to have reverted to the originally intended number of them, instead of cramming in whichever maximum extra number they could possibly fit in !!
I've walked only a short section of the Le Puy Way, but I'd say that it's essential -- because unlike other routes in France (or in Spain), the guidebook outperforms the online resources for lodging info especially.

There are sometimes some street vendors outside, but no gift shops except up the street to the right.
I should be less poor this year than the last few ones (cross fingers !!) -- and I am increasingly leaning towards starting from Salamanca on this surprise intermediary Camino.
Anyway, as none of it will be a Winter Camino this year, and a lot of it will be off the beaten path once I head out...
There are a bunch of these going round in southern Europe at the moment, I've had roughly half a dozen colds since the Autumn. Some of them are not unlikely to be common cold/covid recombinant coronaviruses, therefore highly contagious -- and very annoying.
I did, but that was in 1994, so my experiences are about 30 years out of date, certainly as to waymarking and current accommodation !!
It is a very beautiful Way, and probably the easiest, physically, of the Major routes.

I have worked out how to organise a new pair of Army boots.
I am going to Paris next month for a Baptism, and there seems to be a Night Train from there to Marseilles -- which is where my boots come from. 😎
Warning for those flying in to France -- there's a strike tomorrow April 25th, which likely will NOT prevent flying in or out of the country on international flights, but is very likely to affect flights between Paris and Bayonne and other regional airports.
