    Niggling hates (dislikes) on Camino

I think these threads serve a great purpose! They make me laugh and I enjoy the fun of it and the memories.

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Santiago closes down today (Fri Oct 30) from 15.00

We are also now in Galicia, hoping to be in Santiago on Friday.

    Now I understand...

Yes, I was shocked too. I was sure that fresh milk could be bought in supermarkets in Europe, but I have walked Camino Frances twice, and have travelled to France, Germany and Belgium recently and only found fresh milk in Belgium on one day. Large supermarkets such as Aldi and Lidl, also mom and...

    Now I understand...

Oh, then maybe you can still get it in Germany. When was the last time you were there? I couldn’t find it in France or Belgium two weeks ago, or last year. I am currently living in the UK and each time we go to Europe we self cater, so go looking for milk (yes, in the fridge section) and only...

    Now I understand...

I don’t drink coffee, and drink tea black, so can’t comment on what the milk is like on Camino in these beverages. However, I do like milk with cereal and I must say that I have found it difficult to find fresh milk in Europe. Although it is available in the UK in the refrigerated section of the...

    Suggestions for lightening you load

It's a pity that Australian sockets aren't used in Spain, otherwise I could give this a try...

    Shoes, Sandals and ?

My real Crocs are 256g for the pair size 38.

    Shoes, Sandals and ?

I took Crocs. I found them extremely comfortable after a day of walking. They were useful with socks or without. I wore them while exploring the towns at the end of the day. Mine are size 7 women's (38EU) and weigh 256g for the pair.

    Ultra light obsession

Also, how long do you think the journey will take you to complete?

    Ultra light obsession

You are embarking on a long pilgrimage 2300km! I can see that you have enjoyed the preparation and seem to have thought of everything. I would love to see the list of what remains in your pack at the end of the journey. I found that I needed to carry more that 500ml water as I wanted to remain...

How much weight did you actually carry?

Hello Al, Just interested - how do you carry your gear without a pack? Sounds like a good way to walk.

I want to walk the last few days with my son who is currently in Zubiri. Is this possible?

Buen Camino Maureen. Listen to your inner voice urging you along. It sounds like your son wants you to come along, and given your previous injuries he wants to support your camino. It is a wonderful opportunity. Go for it. Sarria is a good start point. Enjoy. Peace be with you!

Buying gear along Camino vs locally at home

I can understand your hesitance to purchase everything in Brissy. Even when Kathmandu is having a sale the prices are exorbitant. Globe Trekker in West End is not too badly priced. I bought my boots there. Better still, try the Quartermaster's Store at Enoggera. They don't have a big range, but...

    Hazards

It is a beautiful place though. Beautiful blue water....sunshine....fresh air......cool crisp white wine....the reddest earth......the biggest trees! Can't wait to subject myself to the dangers lurking in Western Australia once again!

    Camino 2015

Autumn is a beautiful time to walk the Camino. I trust that you will enjoy all of the planning that goes into it, and also the journey itself. Not long now! Buen Camino!

Mike & Tammi's Camino from SJPP

Are you taking the children on camino? A whole class? I saw a group of school children on camino. They were a Spanish group walking from Sarria to Santiago with their teacher. They looked to be around 12 to 14 years old. They were full of enthusiasm and excitement and ran through the first...

Sarria - Santiago in November, Help for a brokenhearted fat guy

I enjoyed the section from Sarria to Santiago, although I walked warmer months (in Sept/Oct). It will be much cooler now. Buen Camino!
