    What kind of cup?

For those who want to take a cooking stove of some kind, I'd suggest that it's not easy to find fuel in Spain. I use the very common and widespread Camping Gaz stove and found it very difficult to get a replacement cartridge. And of course you cant carry them when flying. As for the fuels...

A sad day on the Camino Frances today.

I saw a post today, forget where, which said that prisoners were sent to clean up rubbish and eliminate eyesores. Sisyphus comes to mind. :|

Thanks for your opinion AnnieSantiago but please consider two uncontroversial standard definitions; Art - the expression or application of human skill and imagination. Art -is a diverse range of human activities. It must then be that from "nature" - storm, tsunamis, volcanoes, hurricane...

Article on Via de la Plata in the Guardian

Alan! At first glance, I thought that first photo was you! - I thought, "he has had a hard camino"! And then my wine fumes parted and I realised it was only those terrific giants you get in Spanish fiestas. Your articles are excellent and you will not be imprisoned with Paolo Coelho  ...

Smart Packing and Unexpected Backpack Items

If you are someone of taste and I'm sure you are, even in Wolverhampton  Ian Dury had an album named "4000 weeks holiday". All my life I've subscribed to this idea, and I retired in my teens at least in outlook. I hope you have retired too. I hope everyone has :D If you prefer Tim...

Smart Packing and Unexpected Backpack Items

This is quite true, but only when you pack your sac in the dorm early in the morning. Consider this simple solution; better pack your sac the night before and what little remains is quietly taken out of the room and packed elsewhere in the morning. No lights no torches no noise. With a little...

    Just diagnosed type 1 diabetic...

I'm hopeful that if you follow all advice on medication, diet and exercise you will manage this condition and be free to walk as you wish. I am sorry that you are being burdened by healthcare costs - it doesnt seem to be a people friendly system. Perhaps (and I only guess) you may find cheaper...

Pins and Needles in my toes

You really have to get a professional diagnosis here. It could well be nothing important, but medical advice must come from professionals. With the right advice, you can have a great walk!

Smart Packing and Unexpected Backpack Items

You can also use plastic shopping bags as dividers/containers - no weight, waterproof and infinitely adaptable to any space available. No wasted space, as it all flattens in the rucsac. The clear ones are good as you can see what's in the bag.

    Flags on backpacks

The real point is that the vision of Europe as a whole is a beautiful concept, despite the difficulties which have arisen, caused by bankers and politicians. Its the same with Christianity and Communism, wonderful goals which go astray. To 'loathe' one country made from many - to heal this...

Funny there's no European Union flag available on the flag option thingy on the forum. Much more agreeable than a national flag.....

    What kind of cup?

Yes! enjoy those breaks; Avoid bringing the workplace into our pilgrimage; we have nothing to lose but our stress! PS -sod's law is that if we have a very expensive item, we inevitably leave it behind. If it is cheap and cheerful, it is always with us
