There was a lovely albergue at Castrojeriz, called THE DUTCH, "Los Holandeses".
It was so well looked after and such a cozy place that I wanted to go back there on my 2nd Camino...But it was closed and I heard that the lovely Dutch hospederos had gone back to Holland. If any albergue on the...
Re: Nieve en el camino.- Snow in the camino.-RONCESVALLES
Today (15FEB) there is snow on all the mountains surrounding Pamplona. Today's temperature: 12ºC and it felt like the first day of Spring.
BUT: NOBODY can actually foretell the possible weather trend in Mid- or EndMarch.
Check THE...
 Hi, KiwiPilgrim,
I'd highly appreciate if you would publish your leightweight packing list.
I ALSO managed to keep my whole luggage (Daypack 2.5 kg and Backpack 6 kg) at under 9kg (it depended on the CaminoSnack stuffed into my Daypack), but I am always willing to learn a bit more on...
You see, I'm normally a solitary pilgrim who avoids crowds, loud people and crammed places. I actually prefer to walk alone but DO welcome to meet my 'Camino Family' in the evening.
If I were to walk the Camino in DEC/JAN, I would ALSO -as you say- form a group with other fellow-pilgrims.
As...
Hi Falcón,
...Three pilgrims a day in January, WOW!!
I was only talking of ONE...
A winter pilgrimage in no panacea at all, as I've already pinted out, but feasible if the stages are kept short.
My reply was for the Australian pilgrim whose ONLY possibility to walk in DEC/JAN.
Buen Camino...
Hi yogaflowjo,
Thanks for your note!
You'll get hooked on the Camino, I promise.
When walking your 10-day Camino, try to avoid trails close to highways or country roads and you'll LOVE the Camino, as you're enveloped by the purest Nature of all and its very own secrets.
As to your question...
Hi Brazilian Pilgrim,
In my humble Camino opinion , THAT's a very sensible plan!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!

You are definitely right: Zig-zagging -aside from breathing, as you say- helps very much climb steep mountains, IF the trail is broad enough.
When I criss-cross climbed the Pyrenees, breathing & zig-zagging brought me up to the highest peak with "almost" no effort...

Taxis even come from the near-by villages.
The owners of either Hostals "La Posada"...
I had NO problems at all after several times drying my leather boots with a hairdryer.
Walked two Caminos with them and if it hadn't been for broken inner seams, I would still use them.
Buen Camino,
JoanneDoe
Thanks for confirming, David.
 Climbing steep hills, matching your breath with your steps, not talking and not looking up: will make you arrive on top without puffing and panting and as fit as a fiddle.
I'm NOT exaggerating!
It actually DOES work perfectly.
Buen Camino

Re: HOW TO DRY WET BO
NO!! But after 2 days of torrential rain I had to book into a Hostal where I first stuffed my completely soaked boots with paper and then got the paper out and dried them with the very handy hairdryer. I eventually stuffed them again with dry paper and they were dry the...

I forgot to add this vital piece of advice:
The BEST way to dry soaked boots is with a haidryer.
