I'm walking on the camino del norte now. Sunrise is around 8 am. People in the alburgues start to rustle around 7:20 in the morning and are out the door at 8 or 8:15. We don't get walking til after a nice coffee and a tortilla with baguette. ..around 9 am. We get to the alburgue around 5 pm or 6...
Please let me know how the gr10 is, I need to get to irun from sjpdp or from jaca, someone told me about 3 routes, the gr10 looks the most appealing because I'm used to backpacking in the appalachian mountains. However, it would be the first week of october, and I'd be walking alone. I have...
Most of the gronze stages are listed for 5 to 6 hours hiking, wich leaves time visit churches, museums, etc. If your main goal is getting it done, you should be able to hike 8 hour days with a nice siesta, which would allow you to complete your goal. Start slow the first few days to build up...

When I was living in Spain in 1996 I was always able to hitchhike with my friends to remote climbing spots. I'm older now and traveling alone, has anyone used this method of travel? Or with the economy collapse are there just too many people looking for a quick buck?
Hi, I'm flying in to Barcelona and trying to get to sjpdp to start on the 1st or 2nd. I'm not a fast hiker, but will also be walking alone, hopefully I'll see you on the trail. -Lucinda
