I would round up to the next Euro aswell.
Waiters earn wages in Portugal and a 'tip' is considered a note of appreciation, not a means to make up for a tiny salary though.
I just read a blog post from last week, where the pilgrim had to walk along the river to reach the next bridge. 20+ km extra hurt if they are not towards Santiago ;-)

I "loved" this discussions on the camino whether you are a real pilgrim or otherwise.
I walked a lot, took the bus, jumped on a train and grabbed a taxi :) and it felt right
I was tryin to keep budget low, I was actually using the kitchen on the camino but also ate the pilgrms menu now and then and slept in pilgrim hostels.
