    Tipping in Portugal

    I would round up to the next Euro aswell. Waiters earn wages in Portugal and a 'tip' is considered a note of appreciation, not a means to make up for a tiny salary though.

    Ferry between Caminha and a Guarda

    I just read a blog post from last week, where the pilgrim had to walk along the river to reach the next bridge. 20+ km extra hurt if they are not towards Santiago ;-) Good to know the boat will be back.

    I "loved" this discussions on the camino whether you are a real pilgrim or otherwise. I walked a lot, took the bus, jumped on a train and grabbed a taxi :) and it felt right

    I was tryin to keep budget low, I was actually using the kitchen on the camino but also ate the pilgrms menu now and then and slept in pilgrim hostels. 25€/day.

    Trinidad de Arre (I liked the old monastery) Viloria de Rioja (10 bed, eat-together, nice communal area, almost no bunk bed) Rabanal (the garden, the kitchen and its herbs)
