    Altra Shoes Replacement Insoles

I've been using regular Superfeet greens in my Altras, no problem. I bought the same size as the shoe and they fit great with no trimming. I've not noticed any gaps at all, in at the toe or along the side. I recently bought a pair of wide Superfeet greens which were recommended for the...

    Lana in winter?

Yes, but we had to quit after about a week. My wife developed an ankle injury and couldn't continue beyond Alpera. More details in my Live from the Camino thread on this forum, or in the blog. Dan

    Buying SIM card in Sevilla

I've had best coverage with Movistar, but also recently very good with Vodafone (and the latter seems easiest to find in a variety of smaller towns). When I bought a Vodafone SIM last month it was 15 euro for 5 GB data and 800 mins (which included calls to the US and many other countries). The...

LIVE from the Camino Heading out on the Lana

Thanks for all the kind words. We bused and trained to Madrid Saturday and flew back to Oregon Monday. Ellen saw the orthopedist at home Friday, and he thinks she has a stress fracture in the tibia. Rest and ibuprofen for a while. Looking forward to going back to the Lana to finish, one of...

    Norte - Lebaniego - Vadiniense - Frances

We walked the Lebaniego and Vadiniense (followed by the Invierno) in 2014. I'll echo what Peregrina2000 said about a lot of pavement walking. But the mountains are beautiful if weather cooperates. The monasterio at Santo Toribio (between Potes and Fuente De) has pieces of the true cross, and...

LIVE from the Camino Heading out on the Lana

Thanks, Jan. As of last night we thought we might stick around Spain for our remaining time and just tour around by rental car. But Ellen is still so limited and in pain this morning that we decided to fly home early. I think it's a good idea to get back so her own doc can examine the ankle...

LIVE from the Camino Heading out on the Lana

HI all, A little update.... Thursday as we walked from Almansa to Alpera (a lovely stage through beautiful hills and countryside) Ellen started experiencing increasing pain in her left ankle. The last 5 km were very difficult for her. In the wake of our recent experience with unheated...

LIVE from the Camino Heading out on the Lana

Hi all, Thanks for the words of encouragement here. I apologize that I've not yet made time to post here on the forum. I do have some information (but mostly not the specific kind fellow pilgrims seek) on the blog. I will try to get some more here on the forum as time allows. Brief notes...

Good news: the Invierno has doubled in popularity, according to 2018 stats!

Wow, that's amazing and positive news. The route maintenance must be much improved from when we walked in 2014; at that time some sections were completely overgrown and we had to detour onto nearby roads to get through. It's a wonderful Camino. We especially enjoyed the sections along the Rio...

LIVE from the Camino Heading out on the Lana

We're jumping in for Camino #10, this time on the Lana. I'll try to post useful info we run across on the Forum, but will be mostly adding notes and pics on a personal blog (primarily for friends and family) here. We arrived in Alicante very late last night, visited the local Pilgrim office...

    Altra Shoes Replacement Insoles

I've been using Superfeet (Green) in my Altra Lone Peaks, with no problem. I just checked with my fingers, and I can't feel any gap at the sides.

    Lana in winter?

Nomad: When do you plan to be walking? We're looking at roughly mid-Jan to mid-Feb on the Lana. Maybe we will cross paths?

    Winter walking

Thanks, Mspath, for that tip. We learned from our earlier Caminos to always have a little food in the pack. We are still focusing on walking the Camino de la Lana this coming Jan-Feb. I'm wondering whether we need to carry a sleeping bag or quilt, or should expect to find blankets in the...

    Insole question

I'll echo Leibniz on removal of the original insoles. I wear Altras also, and first thing I did after buying them was replace the stock insoles with Superfeet. They should lift right out. If they don't, check with the store where you bought them. Plantar fasciitis is no fun (been there)...

    Lana in winter?

Hi, We're trying to run down the same sort of information, to help us decide on the Camino de la Lana or perhaps another route for this outing. Also looking at the Mozarabe. It looks like you are considering heading out this December, so you'd be ahead of us. Whichever Camino, I'll be...

    Lana in winter?

Hi Kiwi, We are also considering walking the Lana this winter, roughly mid-Jan til Mid-Feb (and only as far as Burgos). Would welcome any further thoughts on its suitability for winter walking. Buen Camino Dan
