You are getting plenty of encouraging advice. I have always found Barcelona great.
Just to say the bus service to the airport is very efficient and quick and every half hour or possibly more frequent during the day. You need to get a different bus (from the same stop) depending which terminal...
It is a long time since I was there, but the (very simple) accommodation - shared dormitories, was extensive. Gronze today lists 98 places. You cannot get in (or get out) between something like 2pm and 4pm. I don't think you should have trouble getting a place though.
Vespers at about 8 or 9pm...
If you wait the answer will always materialise!😉
The CSJ/Camino Pilgrim Spring bulletin came in the post today. It’s a great read. And on p 57 in the Refugio Gaucelmo report we read….
“The spin dryer, loved and marvelled by all pilgrims, finally stopped working in October after giving...
I did invierno in Nov 2019 just before Covid. I have never been so wet, continuously! That is beyond control.
But….I’d do it again. 😉
I met no one. And infrastructure was perfectly adequate.
@Undermanager
A delight to see your reports of a new adventure. Buen Camino.
I walked a few stages of Camino Catalán in November - the Camino Ignaciano joins it (in the opposite direction) between Tarrega and Montserrat. It finishes up in Manresa.
Day 9 sounds wonderful - how fortunate to meet...
It looks fine on my phone. I’ve screen grabbed. Is it any better for you? It’s a list of abierto - open and cerrado closed. It looks very useful, dated 27/4.
@Joan Fiol (Gronze.com)
Just to acknowledge something I have seen several times before!
Gronze replied to a message through the website in less than 20 minutes and the corrections made to the website almost immediately.
It is a GREAT service and very helpful that they branched out to cover VF a...
You don't have to stop at the 'top'. If you start at Bourg St Pierre in good weather you could get to the hospice and continue on, on the same day, either to the hotel on the Italian side of the lake - less than a km further or to another hostel here on Gronze.com only 2km further on...
I am generally not a booker-ahead myself, but I have seen on occasion that people have found the hospice full. During the high summer season, I think possibly school parties or maybe scouts are accommodated.
If you look at the booking site you will see that it is full on 20 July, and quite a...
Thanks! Yes there was a spelling error on the Grone.com listing!
i stayed there in 2018. Very simple - but everything you need. Just three beds in a single room. And of course, friendly!
Excellent list - thanks.
I read somewhere else this week that the (tiny) Convento Cappuccini in Chatillon is no longer accepting guests.
BUT Gronze is still showing it (usually reliable) and their website is still showing it https://www.parrocchiachatillon.com/conventocappuccini. Can anyone...
A compensatory highlight (after a slightly trying morning) was lunch in the Argentian restaurant in Valsaín. Although it was full, and quite smart - it is not a bar, he fitted me in! Despite all that happened I would happily go again. An easy walk onward to La Granja - you can see it and follow...
I hope you will agree it is worth while.
You will read after that my account of the old convent in Medina del Rioseco. I would be interested to hear of what is available there now.
Yes I did, and thoroughly enjoyed it. An interesting place and a very beautiful walk. See here:

Not sure I have a favourite Camino, but if i did......it would be the CdM.

I want to echo the advice of @SabsP and @lt56ny
I know I sound from time to time like a cracked record here. |
I am a physician.
While this forum (which I love) is good for sharing experiences and getting encouragement from other people it is really NOT a forum for getting sound medical...
It is quoted as being a bit erratic in opening!! But Google says it is open tomorrow.
"Restaurant where scenes from the legendary Jamón Jamón movie were filmed. The place is simple and very cozy. The food is homemade, ..."

You will need cash!! ;)...
Very happy to hear that you got there in one piece. And yes I think it was probably a wise move to avoid the mountains in winter.
The Centro Social was open in Candasnos when i passed, on a Friday afternoon.....but had neither coffee nor beer, so I had water.
Christopher I did not meet. He...
