    Via Künig - Léon Sections

We are interested in walking parts of the Via Künig after Léon later this year. There seems to be sufficient information on the Galician Section up to Lugo (where we will then walk the Verte and then continue on to Santiago) but I am having a difficult time finding details of the trail from San...

    Albergue in Villavieja

I stayed there in mid-oct, beautiful albergue. Code provided but battery in lock failed to open lock. They came and opened up, changed battery and all was good.. But worth planning to stop there for the night.

2 stamps per day Camino de Invierno

I recently finished the Invierno and in one instance could not legitimately find a second on the route. Given the intent of their policy is to ensure you walk, I did my part by walking and was ready to explain. No questions were asked and I received my Compostela. I indicated here earlier...

    Stamps- missing a few days

Out here in the wilds of the Camino Invierno, some days, like today's stage from Rodeiro to Lalin, zero opportunities as no services available. Nothing but old roads, farms, a couple of flooded bridges, etc. I'll do my best and will simply explain my circumstances and hope for the best.

Choosing Between Altra Olympus and Lone Peak for the Camino

I found that TIMP-3 was more comfortable on rocky surface on Primativo than LP. I find LP just doesn't have padding required now that I have had bursitis in heel. Did not miss rockplate.

Choosing Between Altra Olympus and Lone Peak for the Camino

I was a big LP user but have completed two camino with TIMP-3 because of sole thickness. My go to now.

Hiking poles (please bear with me) need honest advice.

Have taken to walking with poles, specifically Pacer Poles as help significantly with both uphill paths and reduction in hand swelling. My wife and I would never consider walking Caminos without our poles now. We completed Primativo in Sept/Oct this year, and found them very supportive for...

Best time to walk the Le Puy

Hi. Great Camino. I found early/mid-August start was perfect for me. Weather was good, and nearing end of French folks walking the route. I speak French so I enjoyed the opportunity to be immersed in the language but as the end of their summer, less but still some walking it in two week...

    Hello from a Canadian newbie

Hi. We are from Eastern Ontario and just finished one month on Camino and Granada. Exceptional experience throughout. FYI, I also support wide shoes as what I look for. We wore Altra TIMP-3 no rock plate and never any difficulty on Primativo, Verte or tail end of Norté. Have fun...

    Primitivo - Sept 2021

Nary Aurora, you wrote that "We stay in Campiello at Casa Herminia, not far from the Hospital route. Sra. Heminia is an award winning chef and her food and hospitality are not to be missed. El Hospital is gorgeous route. You will need to carry plenty of food and water to sustain you. However...

LIVE from the Camino Late July 2021 Primitivo!

NadineK, thanks for the helpful information. We were thinking of San Salvador starting 24 September, then on to Primativo but researching San Salvador for Albergues etc has led me to think starting in Oviedo. Good to hear so much is open on the Primativo and you are booking ahead. Any final...

Fear of heights and the Way from Le Puy

I, as well, have walked from Le Puy to Santiago. The only spot, which I was amazed about, was as mentioned above: the climb of the cliff face out of Cahors. It is not so much the climb itself, which is short steep climb, but that with a pack, the balancing is different and so I was concerned...

    Aragonés video (2019)

NadineK, thank you for the welcomed surprise video/story this morning. I am sitting here in Merrickville, Canada looking out on a couple of feet of snow and cold temperatures, dreaming of another Camino adventure but not yet vaccinated, and you have provided a new inspiration. Thank you for...

Wimpy Merino Shirts, Or Is It Just Me

Perhaps consider as same solution used for shoes to prevent foot blisters. A very well fitted pack should not be moving around and damaging your shirt. Ensure the pack is secured well to your torso.
