Surprised at our test results poncho vs jacket

I’m a GG Kumo (with an inexpensive Karimor 10L dry sac) and UL kilt/skirt gal too without umbrella 😉 best combo for comfort, effectiveness and above all lightweight functionality. Altus poncho now weighs 350gm (was over 500 gm) at the expsense of material quality but still too heavy for me vs my...

Surprised at our test results poncho vs jacket

Rain jacket plus a RAIN KILT (very ultra lightweight, quick on and off, fits in a shoulder strap pocket, easy to put on and take off, wind & waterproof and keeps pants and underwear dry). For me a poncho has 1 use vs a rain jacket can be worn even if not raining and the kilt can be used as a...

    Plantar fasciitis.

My first case of PF was on the Camino del Norte. I hobbled into Santiago then 6 months of physio and cortisone injections followed before I could walk Pain-free. Since then Ive walked a few very long Caminos always in HOKA shoes (BONDI or STINSON or SPEEDGOAT depends on terrain I anticipate)...

    Alert Theft at Roncesvalles

🤦‍♀️ Roncevalles has bunk bed-side lockers so hopefully thefts weren’t by breaking into lockers.

    Primitivo. Vs Invierno?

I’ve been asked by quite a few members about my recent Camino Invierno (Nov 2023). Here’s a short summary of my 14 day Camino Invierno stages and accommodation. Gronze is 95% accurate regarding accommodation that’s open. Plus I phoned ahead 2 days to re-confirm. I don’t like walking without...

1,000 Miles in a Lumbar Pack: Ultralight Camino de Santiago Packing List

Thanks and it’s food for thought. I’m soon starting the Via Francigena and my goal is 3.5kg total pack weight in my gossamer gear Kumo.

A Camino medical tale with a few lessons

Glad it worked out but I agree quite frightening given your lack of Spanish language skills. Did you know you had this arrhythmia prior to walking your Camino?

    Hoka U TOR SUMMIT Shoe

I wear Hokas too (Bondi, Stinson, Speedgoat) the latter are the least thick soled. Because I insert a custom made hard shell orthotic I don’t feel rocks but the Speedgoat are the least thick soles.

    Via Francigena Convents & Monasteries

I’ll start my Via Francigena July 30th from Canterbury hopefully reaching Rome. I’m wondering if any Forum members who have walked the VF have any suggestions or a list of convents & monasteries “not to be missed”? I will not be camping. Any other suggestions or tips are welcomed.

    Primitivo. Vs Invierno?

I’ve done both the Salvador+Primitivo in Oct 2022 and just walked the complete Invierno last November 2023 alone coming from the Le Puy then Frances, I found the Camino Frances up to Ponferrada way too “noisy” with many young pilgrims so I switched down to the Invierno and it didn’t disappoint...

    Hoka U TOR SUMMIT Shoe

I started in the Bondi 5, had 2 pairs of 6’s, a 7 and now the 8’s …...I hope the 9 is not even bigger vs the 8 🤦‍♀️ I wish they’d stop modifying them.

    Who's counting…

Thanks and great idea, I loved the Primitivo and your legs will be still strong from all the climbing in the first half of the Le Puy. I just found the C Frances way too “noisy” with young pilgrims despite it being mid to late October. The Invierno was tougher vs the Primitivo for repeated stage...
