    Which route out of Ourense?

As far as I know, the only real selling point of the left one is "less mud". Or at least that was my take-away when I was making my own decision.

    Starting Mozarabe in Malaga 4/2024

I'm going to leave a note here for posterity, in case someone comes to this thread looking for answers. Right now, credentials can be bought in the Malaga cathedral's museum gift shop. It's a little hard to find the entrance on your own, so it's probably best to find an employee and ask...

    Water, water...

I'm generally very careful about having enough water, but I wouldn't bother with more than 1L on the CF. There aren't very many stretches where water is an actual issue.

What’s the difference between my two chargers?

Different phones use different charging technologies to speed up the process, that works best when paired with an appropriately designed charger. So if you'd be leaving it plugged in overnight either way, choose the lighter one. If you care about being able to top off your battery ASAP when...

    A Camino Planner

This is pretty neat! I'd seriously consider using it on my next camino. (Provided you'd have a bunch of obscure caminos added in by then.) Most of the stuff I'd take into account when planning is in there, and I definitely like setting bounds on time and distance. At the moment I think it's...

    Weather!

Disclaimer: I am not a meteorologist. But I live in Malaga, and my take is that you don't need to worry about it. Andalucia gets very little rain; so when a storm comes through, it feels like the apocalypse. But all that rainwater runs off pretty quickly. So, given that we're not expecting...

US International Phone plan or Spanish SIM card while on the Camino?

If your international plan has "unlimited data" that slows down to 3G after that first 20GB, then that's really just a "20GB data" plan in practice. You can do much better with a local SIM. When my parents were doing the Camino last year, I got them Vodafone SIM cards. A 50GB SIM would cost...

    Middle or end Sept?

Personally, I don't think this choice of dates will make much of a difference, they're just too close together. Just pick whatever's more convenient for you. But if you want to over-analyze the weather aspect, you can use CaminoWeather. Historical data for Sept 12 - Sept 19 Historical data...

Ideas on ways to extend the Coastal Camino portuguese

Agreed with @Pafayac, that sounds like enough time to do Muxia + Fisterra at your pace. (Or just one of them.) Or if you did that already, maybe the Ingles?

Is there a shuttle bus from CDG Paris airport to Montparnasse train station?

I suggest taking the RER B train from CDG to Port-Royal, then walking to Montparnasse. I did this a few days ago; the walk took me about 20 minutes.

    First Time

Oh man! @munichmaria51 you'll come to learn that, in Camino-related circles, casually asking about reservations is like casually asking about presidential candidates. Reservations: I think you're good for now. Once you're walking, ask other pilgrims about their not/booking experiences every...

Food on the via la plata

When my wife and I were on the VldP, we got into the habit of carrying a 1/2 kg package of peanuts with us as backup. (They have a LOT of calories.) Apart from that, we generally bought something from the grocery store for lunch the day before, and always researched the opening hours of the...

    Rainy season on Camino frances

You can check out CaminoWeather to look at exact stats from previous years for that date. Here's their report for a May 9th start: https://caminoweather.com/frances/?startLocationId=000&endLocationId=209&startDate=2024-05-09&lengthType=stages

    Accommodation from Malaga

I started the Mozarabe on... I want to say March 3rd last year. All of the albergues listed on Gronze were open. Like @Flog said, they're unstaffed, more like a "call the police station or town hall the day before and let them know you're coming" sort of situation. Edit: albergues listed on...

    Starting Mozarabe in Malaga 4/2024

@jpflavin1 I live in Malaga, ask me anything. Credencial: the cathedral bookstore sells them. It's built into the south side of the cathedral, small door that's easy to miss. But, their working hours are pretty narrow, like 10:00-14:00 or something like that.

Planning First Camino, February: Advice, safety, comfort

My strategy is to buy some instant coffee, and dump it into a zip-lock. Get a plastic cup and spoon somewhere, and you're independent on this.

Current resources for the Camino Mozårabe

When I was in Villaharta this year, I ran into a couple that had been driven back from the halfway point by cab. They said the driver was a nice guy and pretty flexible, so this could be arranged with him over the phone. I don't know the specifics though. NOW YOU TELL ME?! 😉

    Weather on Camino Frances May/June

    Looks like they've added Almeria.

Planning to Walk the Camino Mozárabe de Málaga: Questions and Concerns

I was there last spring. The walk out of Malaga isn't unpleasant, but definitely not thrilling. But if you're "distance-challenged", then the bus might be worth considering. It took me and my wife two hours to walk Malaga - Junta de los Caminos, but then ALMOST FIVE HOURS to climb up to...
