    Hiking Shoes, or Hiking Boots?

I just recently decided on my next Camino. Gonna walk from Porto to Santiago early April next year. I did a test drive this year. From Santiago to Finisterre and although it was only a four day hike, I got huge blisters, mostly on my little toes. As some of you might remember, I had a big...

Thought I should tell you all how it went Thank you all for your help. I've been back for a while and thought I should update you on how things went :D In the end I went with my Ecco shoes. Even though I tried hard, I wasn't able to find a good pair of boots in time. Since this was only...

Four days Santaigo to Finisterre. Suggested stops?

I just did the Santiago to Finisterre route in four days. Santiago - Negreira Negreira - Santa Mariña Santa Mariña - Cee Cee - Finisterre In Santa Mariña I stayed at a private lodging at one of the bars. They had 10 beds. Two bunk beds on the lower floor and 6 regular beds one floor up. It...

Getting the credential in Santiago for the Camino to Finiste

I'm done with my little trip and I just have to say that you can buy your credential at the pilgrims pffice in Santiago. I did it and I'm lucky I did, cause when I came to the Negreira albergue it clearly said that you needed to have a credential with you. They did NOT sell any. Don't know if...

Only one week to go and my new shoes gave me big blisters

I've looked for those, but I'm not sure which one you're referring too. Is there a model nr or something? I could look at Foot Locker and see if they have them.

Only one week to go and my new shoes gave me big blisters

I'm thinking of skipping boots all togheter now. As I wrote before, the Hagwags I bought got a bit tight with two socks. Today I exchange the boots for half a size bigger and they are suddenly too big. I can wiggle my toes and they glap at the heels. Why is this shoe buisness so hard ??

    Lodging in Santiago

Thanks Cecelia .. I tried calling the hostels mentioned here and what I got recommended by messanges but all where fully booked. I finally found a midrange hotel that looked OK and booked it for my first and last night. I can even leave my bag during the time which solved my question about...

Do all refugius on this route have blanket and pillows?

I think the subject pretty much says it all :) I'm debating whether I should skip the sleeping bag and only bring travel sheets. I have a small sleeping bag that only weighs 500g but it doesn't give much more warmth than a blanket.

    Raincoat-Poncho

They seem to have everything in stock. I order my Altus this weekend. Yesterday I got a test message saying it was dispatches and on its way. (Yesterday was first working day) I wouldn't worry but just to be sure, you can always call them a day or two ahead.

Only one week to go and my new shoes gave me big blisters

Still not sure about the boots. They were fine when I wrote my last post :) but about 15 min later it started to press on my upperfoot. They are a bit more narrow there. I took them off and wore my Eccos again. Yesterday I bought a pair of coolmax liners from Bridgedales. And today I wore the...

What kind of jacket (how light or heavy)?

I'll take another look and see what I can find. I stopped buying wool years ago since we have problem with carpet beetles. All out expensive sweaters and shawles got holes in them, so I just stopped. However, as you say. Its a great material and I would love to own some again.

What kind of jacket (how light or heavy)?

Went to my local outdoor store to look at Merino wool. (Thanks for the tips by the way) They had some from SmartWool, but Ohh they are pricey. I'm not kidding, they are exactly 90% more expensive than on SmartWools website. They seem like a great investment but I don't wanna pay that kind of...
