On the list it says: "PETROLA. Lugar de acogida en local junto a la iglesia – c/ Pajar - (Cuatro literas, – lavabo y wáter – no hay ducha). Llamar con un día de antelación al Sr. Damián López al Tlno. 96728.6005."...
Oh, then you can stay almost anywhere because all towns & villages are pretty pleasant, and large enough to have bars and restaurants. A few heads-ups:
Gotarrendura is the smallest place (to stay) on the Camino and there is only 1 bar (nowhere to buy food). But it is the supposed birthplace of...
The towns you mentioned (Toledo and Ávila) are the largest ones. Apart from them, the other villages are pretty small. I walked the Sureste in 2015 and can't think of any place where I would have enough to do to have a rest day... I remember Arévalo having several mudéjar churches if that is...
Ok! Good to know! Monforte seems like a nice place to me, whenever I stroll through the streets (3 times by now…) always at the break of dawn (since I'm coming from Orito). Louise is lucky to have so many options on her first stage!
Orito is a safe haven on the first stage and I wouldn't stay anywhere else. But I am well aware that a lot of pilgrims stay in the albergue in Novelda instead (Orito + 8 kms). It is said to be really good.
Have you seen the first episodes of Sara Dhooma's vlog on the Camino de la Lana? The...
Hi,
The most recent blog is from Futurefjp, in this section of the Forum. It gives you a hint of the weather conditions on the Sureste in winter...

Well I for one would certainly like to follow your blog on the Jacobsweg as well. I know nothing about German Caminos, and I only walked 1 Camino in France (Le Puy) a long time ago. Germany sounds like a real adventure!
As for the Sureste, I think spring or autumn would be the best seasons to...
Congratulations to you and your arrival in Sally-Manca!
All the things you just reported from the albergue de peregrinos are the reasons why I prefer not to stay at albergues anymore. Talking loud and annoying behaviour. No thanks. Whenever I have to stay in an albergue, I try to keep as quiet...
OK, but if the french cheatigrina mainly travel by bus, you should still have the rest of your journey for yourself, right?
Ávila is beautiful, but always looked a bit stern to me.
Ok! Just a question: why didn't you stay in Cebreros between Cadalso and Bartolomé? But I haven't stayed there myself so I don't know about accomodation.
The albergue in Ávila is big & comfy & well equipped. I wonder about heating in winter though.
You in Ávila yet, cowboy? There are 2 hills to conquer before getting there.
Oh and I just remembered there are 2 ways of descending from that first hill into San Bartolomé de Pinares (are you there already?) I wouldn't know which one is best in Winter conditions. I just know that the one that...
Albergue?! How the flying flip should I know. I always go for the hostal…! I am the Bad pilgrim, not the Good pilgrim. The only way to get me into an albergue is blindfolded with my hands and feet tied together.
Isolation-wise there is a difference. Apart from Almorox, the Levante includes a...
The stretch you walked today is so beautiful and peaceful in summer. And a long stretch of non-stop walking without any bars of course. I suspect you are staying in Escalona next? You will like it, it's all pretty and medieval and yadda-yadda. But not as touristy as Toledo. It will make you...
Hmm, this means you will soon reach the mountains you have to cross to get to Ávila. Not to discourage you, but it could get a little chilly. I hope you have nice weather up there. I would really like to know what it looks like in December.

Holy hailstorm...!
Not even Lord Buckethead can keep you in the UK?? :Oo He seems like a nice chap.
Does this mean I can cancel my daily newspaper and start following your blog again??
I'm getting sooo jealous... I could go to Spain as well, but I would have to do all the arrangements within...
