LIVE from the Camino On the way from Matosinhos to Vigo

Enjoyed your report about your first day on the Portuguese coastal route. I hiked it on Sept last year, and recall how the boardwalk along the beach was unusable in some areas. Had to switch to hiking sandals and ended up with blisters my first day. But I loved the sea breeze and views! Bom...

    Camino Portugués in September

I hiked the Portuguese coastal route from Porto to Santiago, including Senda Litoral, last year Sept 21-Oct 7. Was a great time to hike. The weather was good but unseasonably warm then. Bom Camiño!

    Weather in October

It was such a great experience and I loved the route I picked! But the sun and heat was relentless and I did complain about it. I sent my raincoat and a few other items ahead to SdC since it looked like I wasn’t going to need them. When I read about the rains and flooding just a week later...

    Weather in October

I hiked Porto to Santiago coastal and senda Litoral routes, and spiritual variant from Sept 21- Oct 6, and had hot, sunny weather with no rain. Apparently it poured rain the last two weeks of October and they had flooding. Hard to predict what Oct, 2024 will be like.

Hello Lynn Kelly - it’s Sept 19 and I made it to Porto! I plan to start my journey on Sept 21. Will you be in the Porto area these days?

    Finding this a bit lonely

Thanks for the reply! I’m one of those who will say ‘Hello’ to folks who are ignoring me as I walk by so maybe will get some interaction. Buen Camino!

    Finding this a bit lonely

This is interesting. I’m hiking the coastal route starting from Porto in mid-September and I’ve gone from worrying about being alone to worrying about too many pilgrims and no place to stay. I’ve decided to stop worrying about all of it and trust that the Camino will provide.

Reserve lodging ahead or wing it day by day on the Camino Portugues?

I’m also hiking Porto starting around Sept 21 or 22, and will be taking the coastal route and and wondering the same thing about accommodations.

LIVE from the Camino Walking at last

Maybe I’ll see you in Porto? I plan to start there around Sept 21-22 and hike the coastal route.
