great suggestions... when we experienced torrential rain as we entered Baiona so we relaxed and spent a couple very pleasant days there before continuing our camino. The old part of town has lots of great little cafes and was very lively and hospitable. The harbor and nearby beaches are lovely too.
walk out of Porto, it's interesting, scenic and there are lots of places to stop and explore along the way.
I agree, I loved following the river out to the sea ... then turn right and follow the ocean north, 😎 it's a lovely walk.
I use Booking.com to find accommodations and found numerous affordable options on the coastal route. Off-season you can get real deals and great hospitality in the seaside towns

Just did that same route in October ... Coastal from Porto to Vigo then inland to Redondela and north to Santiago is 150 miles. Johnnie Walker has an excellent guide available in print or to download.
Lots of rain (but that was happening everywhere). We didn't meet any other pilgrims until we turned inland to connect with the traditional route. Itinerary with comments is posted in the forum and Johnnie Walker has added it to his guide to the coastal route too.

I can't comment on that waymarking as we continued on to Vigo before heading to Redondela. We walked the coastal route this October, from Porto to Vigo (crossing the border by ferry from Caminha to A Guarda). From Vigo to Redondela we made a few wrong turns (and it was raining hard for the last...
We did the coastal route in October ... Porto to Vigo (crossing into Spain by ferry from Caminha to A Guarda). From Vigo the route goes inland to Redondela and from there follows the Caminho Portugese.
