There seem to be less bed shortage panic posts... I guess things have calmed down?
I wonder if the previous posts have resulted in many postponing their trips? And / or if it's pushed more to prebook thereby leaving more space in the non-bookable places?
Lugo has a Roman festival every summer. I'm not sure when this summer but you can look it up. I was there last year and it was fab—though it will make finding accomodations tougher if you don't pre-book.
If the timing is right I recommend it!
Why fly to Santiago? You can fly to A Coruna Alvedro Airport (LCG) which is less than 100kms from Sarria for €38.99.
But this may be just me... I wouldn't want my walk to Santiago spoiled by flying in there.
If you haven't yet bought that tkt to Santiago I'd say spend time in Barcelona and somewhere else near by (Zaragoza? Valencia?).
6 days is a long time to wait, and if you're walking to Santiago I'd say wait to explore it for when you arrive.
If you have 3-6 days to spare (and don't feel like walking any other stages of the camino) why not choose some places anywhere in Spain you want to visit? The public transport system is great in Spain. With 6 days, choose 2-3 places.

The panic is then making it worse as this same group all start to mass reserve anything and everything they can with the intention of...
Hopefully the picture becomes clearer in the coming week... my gut tells me that it's just social media panic, but it would be nice to have a solid idea of what's actually going on.
Yup, but this too is from a reservable place. My gut says that the non-reservable, not-on-Booking(dot)com places are probably being overlooked... but my gut can be wrong and that's what I'm trying to figure out.
Thanks, but this I know. I was referring to your comment: "sometimes our albergues do fill up, but more often then not, the beds are not full at our volunteer location albergues."
I'm trying to figure out if it's a reality right now that public/municipal/non-reservable beds are hard to come by...
This is very good to hear.
May I ask where these albergues are? I'm having a hard time figuring out what the actual on the ground situation is here.
My gut says a lot of this is noise coming from new travellers who are over-reliant on Booking(dot)com. But I've also heard from experienced...
