Sciatica rearing its ugly head: prevention tips

I have suffered from sciatica for years. Most recently, I joined an aquatic fitness class, Ai Chi, which is similar to Tai Chi but takes place in a warm (92 degrees) salt water pool. I go twice a week for this one hour class and it has made a tremendous difference in not only the sciatica but...

Do I need treatment for a forum addiction?

My life is on hold because of this walk. Six months ago I had never heard of the Camino. Now it regulates everything I do long term, including buying a house. This is sick. I have reserved a corner of my bedroom that accommodates stuff that has anything to do with the Way, i.e., supplies...

    Training for the Camino

I'm envious...maybe. Everyone is so different in how they respond to training. You may do just fine. However, my knee problems started decades ago when I was taxing my joints working on a farm lifting hay bales, movng rocks, etc. Not to mention that skiing accident...Point is, it all counts...

    Training for the Camino

Training with bad knees: Today I had an appointment with my doctor about my post-nasal drip. While this malady is most assuredly annoying but what I really wanted to complain about was my 68 year old knees and what I can expect of them when I walk the Camino next June. I've had several...

Documenting your Camino: a self per mile

I am astounded by the commitment that it took to document this hike. Not to mention what it took to do this hike at all. I'm absolutely certain that there was ample time in that 2600 miles for reflection.

    Where did you walk today?

I am convinced beyond current reason that time slows when one is having a less than wonderful time but speeds up when immersed in pleasant ventures especially when anticipation of such ventures is pending.

    Where did you walk today?

Heceta Head to lighthouse and Hobbit Beach on the Oregon coast. Not long trails at all but steep, muddy and magical. My new trail shoes are filthy and christened with Hobbit mud.
