    OP's concern/fear is not unreasonable. I can't think of any form of lodgings in good old USA not having railings in upper bunkbed. Yup. There are some things USA do better. Rare but happens.

    I guess there's an exception to every rule. Also if there was a stipulation that pilgrims needed to vacate the premise at a certain time, then the Hospitalero/a can wake up the (over)sleeper.

    Only in case of emergency or personal safety, should one touch another pilgrim physically, uninvited. Just my opinion.

    While on Camino, I do my best to get private rooms because I get up 3 or 4 times during the night to use the bathroom. I don't want to inconvenience others or to risk falling/tripping in dark. On rare occasions when sleeping in public albergues, I don't take any liquids at least 3 hours before...

    Thank you. I wholeheartedly agree with you. Huge difference between snoring and other random disturbances is CONTROL. Snoring is beyond the power of the doer. Other noisy annoyances you mentioned are within the control of the doer.

    You did not get sick because you drank A2 milk. Vast majority of Spanish milk is from A2 cows.

    Having painful blisters unable to walk and have 7 days left. Currently in Santiago

    Porto is 4 hour bus ride from Santiago. From there, Madrid is a short flight away. After the Camino we spent 3 days in Porto and 3 days in Madrid, which worked out beautifully for us.
