I surely hope people step up, I volunteered last year and it was a wonderful experience . And I hope to volunteer again this year. But I took a bad fall on the Camino and have to see how I heal up. This fall might work out- I will keep in touch Rebekah!
Yes, I thought of Rebekah Scott I know this late notice. I have the next 3 weeks free, so it would be for now, for last minute positions, but no worries if not, just thought it might work out. I did the hospitalero training last bring in the US. Thanks for all your replies
Hello I will be in the Pamplona area in a few days and wondered if any of the albergues needed some help, as I'd like to volunteer a week or 2? Finished volunteering in Portugal a couple months ago and I have some free time. Thanks!
Hello, my daughter is visiting for a bit in the Cordoba area and would like to do a few days on a Camino, the closest one I can find is the Camino Mozerabe. Has anyone done a few of these stages and could recommend a few not too hard days. Maybe 4 days? I don't know much about this area. I would...
Hi Peter, leaving my little farm in California in August, heading to Lisbon, then caminoing up to Santiago after volunteering a couple weeks, then off to Spain, hopefully volunteering on the Frances 2 weeks, gone a total of 3 months. Just saw this albergue for sale on the Frances, if I could...
Hi Jeff, I am volunteering this summer 2 weeks in Portugal, 2 weeks in Spain and I also run a little vacation rental on my farm which I really enjoy that's why I think I would like it! And I never go to Target or Walmart- not that kind of girl! And I do agree that the bureaucracy might make...
Many many thanks to John Brierly, so sorry to hear this news, he was so very helpful to multitudes of peregrinos, myself included. My first Camino Frances last summer/fall could not have been completed without his wonderful guidebook, a lifesaver to me as I pored through it nightly for help to...
Hi Peter, I am volunteering in Portugal in August, and hoping to volunteer in Spain in October! Thinking it will give me a good idea on how it is to be in the day to day activity of working in an albergue. And still have the dream of opening one, although it sounds somewhat daunting! Keep me...
Hi Rebekah, I was trained this past February in Point Reyes CA, really enjoyed it. Am volunteering at a Portuguese albergue in August, and may also consider one for August on the Frances. Can you tell me where help is needed most then? Thank you!
I am reading this and all of the replies with great interest, as having just returned from the Camino, I feel the same desire and would happily do anything it takes to be a productive part of the Camino. I would gladly be a volunteer or partial investor if you happen to get this going, or...
After having the most amazing time on my Camino Frances journey, I would like to know how hard it is to buy and open an Albergue in Spain or Portugal as a US citizen? Has anyone had any experience in doing this? I know it isn't easy as I talked to a few American couples who have done it. If...
