I found that distances between stages on apps were generally a 1-2 km less when compared with distance measured on my Garmin/strava. I wouldn’t get too fussed about it. It can often be a few Km from one side of town to the other.
Both are standard. The cana is about 200ml and the copa is about 300-330 ml size. I think if you just asked for a cerveza you might get the smaller size.
Note the different info in post above. I was told the information I have given by a barman in a small bar.
I’m just back after 18 nights in 6 Spanish cities. My ordering of a beer was simply a “copa cerveza”. I would say this was regular size, a cana was a small beer.
A beautiful walk today up the Kilpatrick Hills to Loch Humphrey north of Clydebank in Scotland. I haven’t walked up here for months and it was good to get on this type of terrain to prepare me for the Camino del Norte in September.
It was 10 mile door to door. We plan to do this walk 2 or 3...
I remember hoping to get some food/drink in a small town/village, Pereje, on the CF last October. It was deserted of human habitation, not a soul to be seen. However, we counted more than 20 cats some in large groups eyeing us up as we invaded their space. 😂
I had a lovely Santiago cake with ice cream as a dessert in a Spanish restaurant in Glasgow yesterday 😀. I also had a beef and chorizo empanada to start.
I couldn’t agree more. Where is the spontaneity that folks had in years gone by ? Little information about any aspect but just the wonder of embarking on this wonderful experience in front of us. What about the thoughts/experiences of the pilgrims of centuries ago ?
Why not just just close...
Yesterday I walked 26 miles (42km) on the Angus Coastal Path on the East coast of Scotland. Dundee to Arbroath.
Our first stop was at 21km, for a beer and some nuts. Final stop in Arbroath for a beer and fish & chips in a seafront restaurant.
This was a distance walk in preparation for our...
In our hotel in Santiago I ordered some orejas de cerdo, a Spanish delicacy. I normally translate the menu, but not this time. The picture looked good enough. I was served up a plate of pigs ears. I tried a good few before I was put off by the hairy ears. 😂😂
On a winter holiday last week, I walked from our Tenerife resort, Golf del Sur to Mount Amirilla. Mainly over volcanic scrub and then a climb. A 12 mile round trip. Calf on left leg felt it next day.
I walked the final 100k to Santiago, late October leaving Gonzar, and found it so quiet. A few people I encountered also commented on how quiet it was. It was so unexpected.
Walked a 15 mile round trip through the West End of Glasgow, stopping halfway for a nice Indian meal and refreshments and a further large red 4 miles from home. Lovely.
