Really? I don't think I've entered a bar without putting down my pack and then going to the bar. I've also never heard of a pack being stolen. Except in the The Way of course. You're kidding right?
I'm not sure they would be too picky about a SJdPP Camino. I know the gentleman I worked with wasn't too worried about it after a Via with less than one stamp a day.
It would be interesting to know if anyone is ever turned away. They gave me grief after my Porto with only one a day but they...
Check out the Sanabres as well. I compared the early Norte stages to the Sanabres stages and the latter are much longer and steeper. Having said that, I am really looking forward to the San Salvador, whenever that will be!
In March and April on the VdlP I encountered only one dead spot in cell coverage and it was more weak than dead. It was in Campobercerros on the Sanabres portion. The wifi in the bar was OK, but not great.
You can also set up your notifications to send the message to a trusted phone. It goes directly to the phone, not the phone number.
This does mean that you will need to access wifi or data.
This is true but I think it is also a misconception that the butafumeiro is rarely swung. I have seen it swung at least twice (I have a sense I saw it twice one year) after three caminos.
Most ridiculous rule ever. And not followed. I just finished the Via/Sanabres and didn’t have one stamp per day. I had no problem at the Pilgrims Office. Unless of course the Camino is about adults collecting stamps. Who in their right mind would claim a compostela after not having walked?
One thing I would suggest is to try to do your first day in sunshine. It is difficult to predict but I have seen some beautiful pictures of things I missed on my cold, rainy, windy first day in 2016!
