I'm not laughing at your retching. My stomach flipped when I saw the mere picture but your humor just totally has me crying tears with my laughter! I totally would've taken a picture too! How could you not? No one would believe you if just described it!
I should have said "Don't click it all it" because I can't un-see it. It's etched firmly in my mind and probably the worst I've seen and I looked at all the photos from the Holy Year.
@twh I'm so sorry you had to see that in person at all! Hopefully that person was just sick!
This reminds me of the "It's YOUR Camino!" attitude that makes me cringe every time, not because I disagree that people have the ability to tailor their Caminos to their specific needs but because it gets tossed around far too much without clarification.
It's OUR Camino, just like these...
It's not just in the Cascades...it's on Mount Everest too. I listened to a story NPR did on it and found a link for anyone who is interested. What's sad about the Everest story is that there are people who depend on the glacier melt for drinking water and they're getting sick due to the amount...
Money always complicates things. This I think we could get enough pilgrims behind to sign a petition but we have to threaten the wallets or they will not listen:
I agree with you and Bradypus. But you must learn to see things in terms of dollars/cents. This will not happen because it will affect the euros from tourism. I don't know much about tour companies but if I had one, I would make sure that my price including a private flying of the botafumeiro...
Or we could lobby the church to walk in place for the faithful that cannot walk due to age/infirmity or disability. Kinda like the old days when the rich could have someone walk in their stead.
And yes, that is the reality of most Americans. People think us rude but truly we are overworked and...
That is true but I think is you have a bona fide disability that you should be able to qualify upon arrival, however you arrive. Especially if you are arriving injured from walking.
I think that throwing out the 100KM requirement will make it harder for those walking for religious reasons to gain the compestella! This is a feasible distance for the aged and infirm to accomplish. MANY Americans suffer the culture of not having time off. IF we are lucky, we accrue ten to 14...
LOL to all my fellow lushes out there! But I thought of this, a new way to earn the Compestela. Be sure to click the appropriate flag to view the article in the language you understand:

Love the new emojis!! Already enjoying them! At least now the single can flirt with each other with the love-bug-eyes 😍 and keep the hearts for the people we wish to let know how much their words affect us or the love we hope to extend to each other!!
I would argue that more medieval pilgrims were concerned about their physical well-being in the here and now of that time considering that the journey was harder and the dangers they faced were more than being flashed by some pervvy guy getting his jollies.
You have brought tears to my eyes! I cannot begin to tell you how saddened I am to hear of your loss. It reminds me of my own and quickens the sense of urgency to get on the path! I am also gladdened to hear you and yours are taking steps to see to it that you don't leave your dreams by the...
They've actually caught one of the exhibitionists on the Camino!
I have more worries about my travel arrangements than I do what will happen once I land.
I would like to see a bit more civility on this thread. People have a tendency on hot topics to let their worst come out in order to shame a person for asking a question. Asking the question is not wrong. It takes courage.
Please remember there are comments that are helpful and comments that...
