Sil is right.
If you are a member of CSJ, show your credencial to the consul. Mine had a first stamp from my parish church already.
I also showed the confirmation email from the first hotel I'll be staying in (jet lag adjustment), and prepared a day to day itinerary along the camino (which...
Does anybody know the name of the old man who welcomes pilgrims to Boadilla del Camino? He wears a name plate on his shirt but I regret not having taken his photo when I met him by the fountain where you turn the wheel and water comes out.
In my opinion, it's MAY, or just after Semana Santa. Never mind the occasional rain. The fields are all green, including along the meseta, and the flowers blooming. Only downside is there are no grapes to pick yet ;-)
Thanks summer2005 for having the stickers available online. I bought a few and I hope my new car will have something Camino-related on it by Christmas. ;-)
Salamat!

Last Sunday was Mission Sunday. I'd like to share with you some words from an article featured on the misallete, recounting the life of Fr. Jimmy Afable as a missionary to the Solomon Islands who wrote his book "Sharing the Gift of Faith" after he came back home. His thoughts on his 'journey'...
I just sold my old car and I'm looking for an online store where I can buy a Camino de Santiago-related sticker/decal for my new one. Suggestions anyone?
Thanks!
Mark
Bunny,
The route is exactly the same as the Camino Frances. You just have to do some extra 'homework' when you reach the cities by looking for the university campuses to get your required sello. You only need one university sello per city. Pamplona and Burgos were the easiest. Logrono...
Br. David's "happy birthday" post raises a slightly intriguing issue. Some saints' feast days are reckoned on the day of their deaths (e.g. St. Francis Xavier). How did July 25 end up as St James' feast day?

There was a tattoo shop at the end of Rua Villar and I was tempted to have one (scallop with the St James cross) on the back of my neck but chickened out at the last moment. If there will be another chance at doing the Camino I'll definitely do it!

Okay, Minkey, I'll take your word. The two bottles in my shelf will remain where they are. Not as a doorstop though! More like a Camino trophy, for bragging rights. ;-)

Same dilemma here, William. Almost a year since I finished my first (and only?) Camino and bottles of Real Irache Gran Reserva 1996 and Irache Reserva 1999 are still in my 'cellar', waiting for the occasion to present itself. Bought in Bilbao airport for more than 10 euros each, I expect these...
Hmm, Monte de Gozo radio towers? I though they were TV antennas. And the Lavacolla stream? Never got to see it, and I WAS looking for it.
The cathedral towers visible from Monte de Gozo? I doubt it. Priests hauling the botafumeiro? Nope.
6 T-shirts? Far too many.
But otherwise...
Hola Deborah,
Be forewarned: In a couple of refugios I've been to, I noticed the slight smell of freshly applied chlorine bleach on the floors e.g. albergue de peregrinos in Burgos. Are you allergic to that?
I forgot the other one.

Great idea about pilgrims doing 'volunteer' work on the camino. My only concern is the pilgrim's back after all that stopping and squatting to pick up the trash. Ever tried to pick up something on the ground with a heavy pack on your back?
I guess it's going to be a matter of technique.
If your toilet paper runs out, steal from bars. ;-)
When you're walking in the woods and you see a backpack lying on the side of the road and its owner is nowhere in sight, keep your eyes straight forward.
White pilgrim,
I've met a lot of angels on the camino. In various guises.
Some pilgrims I met and helped may have thought I was an angel too. ;-)
So are the helpful souls in this forum. ;-)

Out of convenience, probably for the foreigners. The term 'passport' is easier to understand instead of 'credencial' (or credential) but of course we can't have these people thinking of showing their national passports at the albergue -- those would be filled with sellos in no time...
