Hi, I'm starting on June 2nd from St Jean and flying into Biarritz. Then getting train from Biarritz to Bayonne and then Bayonne to St Jean. Guess you can get a taxi to Roncesvalles from St Jean. Pre bought tickets online for trains. Check out train strike dates before you book. There are...
hi Lucy, I'm planning on getting to the Pilgrim Office in St Jean at opening time (or before, to queue) and heading out straight away. I'm a brisk up hill walker if I need to be and plan to be ahead-of-the-crowd en route to Roncesvalles. Would you say I would still need to reserve a place in...
Hi Rich1, glad to hear it went well. Can you say what went wrong after Moral? It's after that village to the next that has flummoxed me with the Brierley directions. Any pointers? How long didn't it take you? Many thanks.
OK, so not much cheaper than the albergue over the road. Maybe worth walking on to Fonfria then. Only 9 euros. Wanted a light walk from Herrerias after Dragonte route, but hey ho, I'll do the extra 3km if it means I can afford myself a bottle of the red stuff.
Hi all, Has anyone stayed at the Santa Maria in Alto do Poio? Was wondering how much they charge for the night. No mention of price on their website. Also, what did you think of the place. Many thanks.
Good question. I'm on a tight time plan, and very stubborn with myself. I will make those dates no matter the pain I might be in. Just me again I'm afraid.
I'm walking the full French Way in June/July (I'm a first timer). I have booked every stop from Sarria to Santiago as heard it does get busy. First time jitters? Yeah, probably, but wanted to make sure I have a bed for the night. Just my choice. I'm sure seasoned Camino'ers have better advice.
Thanks for this heads up guys. I'm traveling into St Jean by train from Bayonne. Lucky for me they are striking the day after I get into St Jean. Wouldn't have checked if I hadn't have seen this thread.
I believe you pay when there. I've booked all hostels after Sarria on Booking.com and they all state to pay on the day, despite asking for my card details.
I have just booked all my hostel stays from Sarria to Santiago. As the busiest part of the Camino, thought it would be wise. Everything was filling up fast on Booking.com for the cheaper places. Glad I've booked them plus start and end town for the Dragonte route. I am traveling mostly in June...
My aim is to get to Herrerias. If no room at an inn there then at least I'll have a few options for the cost of a few more kilometres. Will take 3 litres of water as I did climbing Pantokrator in Corfu at 38C!
