    Snoring. AARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!

If we're gonna talk about snoring, might as well throw in people opening windows. Just finished 5 weeks on CF. My buddy snores lightly in a warm room and ROARS in a cold room. Guess what? When people open the windows it gets cold, it gets loud. I'll take noise over cold any time 😉

Lost & Found Backpack stolen from albergue in León

I'm tech a tech dummy. My friend did the screen saver setup. Ask a youngster to help, they know all the tricks 😏 Hidden air tag installed Just in case

Lost & Found Backpack stolen from albergue in León

I was just gonna ask, does she have contact info in pack? That would help. I also put screen saver contact number on cell phone. It has saved me a phone before 😉

León to San Martin del Camino alternative route

Did south route last time, I liked it 😀 Doing north route tomorrow as well because my friend wants to cut distance on his sore knee. Maybe we can compare notes tomorrow night.

Lost & Found Backpack stolen from albergue in León

I'm in Leon. I'll definitely keep eyes open for gear and sentimental yellow cat. Those things mean more than gear. Maybe luck will jump in.. Just 2 days ago, I thought my 30+ year walking stick was lost. I went everywhere looking. I was frantic. An hour later the Hostal owner called that it...

LIVE from the Camino Current big wave at beginning of Francés

Gang, the numbers are just fascinating,,, except when I was walking in hard wind, rain and sleet those extra 4k into the Moratino two nights ago. 😞 Guess I should've tried some of that "lords and ladies" taxi stuff 😉 Jumped ahead to an undisclosed location to try to stealth my way down the way...

LIVE from the Camino Current big wave at beginning of Francés

It's tight! I'm now past Terridillos de Los Temparillos. Got turned away at both Albergues there that were "completo" at 2pm, that told me yesterday they took no reservations. Then the girl behind me checked in tour group of twelve. Every town has been full in the small places (at any price...

Three rescues on the Route Napoleon yesterday

Obviously "they" means something different in Norway. "They" means "not me, somebody else, I don't know". Katar1na asked if I got an explanation for the discrepancy and the answer was clearly no explanation available.

Three rescues on the Route Napoleon yesterday

Not really. Something about when "they" decide to make final sign change for season. My friend was worried because we had heard the scam about the big fines if the route was closed.

Three rescues on the Route Napoleon yesterday

I left SJPP on 15th, although Pilgrims Office assured us pass was open, signs said Closed. Went back and rechecked with office and they assured us it was open. Stopped at Orisson that night (Lucky bed) Did the top on the16th. Very cold rain and strong winds. I could see unprepared people...

St Jean to Muxia in 20 days - or less!

So,,, this brings up a question I've often wondered about. I know it's not a race, but almost every hike/trail/section has a FKT ( fastest known time) . Some are crazy long and crazy fast. Like the Appalachian Trail in 41 days ( 2200 MILES) I found reference to a 7 day 16 hour FKT for the...

    Reverse Camino

If you pay attention to following route, I think you will enjoy the trip. I did few days backwards just to accommodate schedule delays of others. I met incoming "tramily" that I had lost touch with. Caught up on all the trail gossip and enjoyed all the visiting with folks that thought I was...

How much did you spend and what was the total cost of your Camino Frances, start to finish?

I had no "budget" but had an expected cost. I took Bla-bla car from Madrid to SJPP. I went SJPP to Sarria, looped back to Triacastella for a few days, back to Sarria, then SDC, then Finisterra for few days, then train to Madrid. 45 days in country. Expected $1500 With a few "splurges" I spent...

Requesting some thoughts (re starting point) from experienced pilgrims, please?

There are 3 ways to get from Triacastella to Sarria. I found one by accident! (lost or "just wandering") I got to Sarria via Samos, then had a few days to wait for a friend, so I hiked backwards towards San Xil, but missed a turn and took an unmarked route from Fontearcuda to Renche by just...

Winter Camino Francés video (arrived January 6th, 2021)

David, A fantastic journey! Thanks for sharing your trip!!!! You are obviously young and strong. I got only small touch of snow in 2018 and can't imagine how exhausting that would have been. Very nice video and you certainly got an experience very few will ever see. The solitude and...

    Don't grow up: It's a trap.

My father has always hated that I say: "You never grow up, you just play with older kids and the stakes are much larger". My father got old at around 45. I'm now 62 and still playing and he still hates my saying. When I came home after playing for 6 weeks in Spain at age 60, he asked if I...

To the person who wanted to inspire love . . . you didn't!

In March 2018, I did SJPP to Sarria before my wife met me for completion. I had seen very little graffiti until Ocebrera. THEN, from Sarria onward it was disgusting. Particularly, the LW scrawls. I was actually wondering what I would do if I caught them😀. Needless to say, my wife thought this...

Quick “The Way” synopses (and tribute)

I saw it before. I've only watched it once since my journey. I tell prospective pilgrims that although I thought the movie was nice,,, my Camino was even better! The memories are worth watching again. I cried a dozen times watching it afterwards and that would NEVER have happened before my...

Will the Camino be too crowded at the end of May?

They are trying all the tricks I could tell them. Off stage, small towns, stretch ahead, drop back, alternative routes,,, it's just crowded. Calling two days ahead is working for now. Not much chance for spontaneous walking day distances though.😟

Will the Camino be too crowded at the end of May?

My sister in law is on Frances west of Burgos and says they are having to book TWO days ahead to get a bed. They were told 200 to 300 per day increase from last year by pilgrim office. Looks like a big spike in traffic,,,even after holiday. Also seems to be a lot of theft reports on blogs I...
