In July 2015, a friend and I walked the Francés in 20 days, averaging about 40km per day. This was not to find beds for the night or to get there first. It was because we could.
That was my first Camino. Since then, I've walked the Via de la Plata and the Norte, each slower than the last. And...
Is the CF doable in 26 days? Most definitely, but should you? A friend of mine and I did it in 20 days, and we were more than 20 years your senior. But, one of the big take aways from that experience for me was to slow and down and take it all in.
Buen Camino!!!
If you have a Kindle or use the Kindle app, you might want to buy this book:
Fixing Your Feet, by John Vonhof

You have great advice above and hopefully get some reasonable footwear, but this book could help expedite the healing process...
I like that.
I think @BonitaHolland you will find that preparation be darned. You are there now, you have a reasonable pace planned, and as others have said, you can/will train/acclimate in route.
What now, though? What is before you? I too believe in accepting what the day brings. But, I set...
So true!
By my observation, this problem was worse the closer to Santiago we became (more people).
Generally, I was super impressed with how clean the trail was, until we were nearing Santiago. On that final stretch, behind nearly every tree or bush, anywhere someone could hide away for a...
My two cents worth:
With convertible (zipoff) pants or running shorts, I use poly (tech) unders. Reason: mesh+cradle=chaffing.
I use Kuhl brand zipoff pants. They are bit more stylish. Great for walking in Paris, into a church, and to keep the sun off your legs when you want. It will be hot! I...
IMHO, the OP makes a rather large leap from observing someone doing a good deed, whatever the motivations, to thinking he a bad person for not giving to street beggars, which may or may not be true.
I agree wholeheartedly with Mark on this one. Service work that I have done abroad has been very...
A light fleece and lightweight poncho are perfect. The odds of much rain is slim that time of year. I walked the CF last July and other than one drizzly morning, had no rain on the Camino. I carried a lightweight down jacket and a GoLite poncho--never used either.
Buen Camino!
I concur with those that have tried to discourage camping. Last July, we carried a tent from St. Jean to Leon, used it twice, then sent it home. The Camino simply doesn't lend itself to tenting. The albergue is part (and I think one of the key parts) of the Camino experience.
I especially like...
