Hi hel&scott - this makes me laugh as the truth is - no, i don’t really know what I’m doing - I’m just trying to do and not just dream! I may have gotten lucky on the first go round so I have a bit of trepidation around this next one especially knowing the season is getting on and the...
Thanks all I appreciate your input! Lots of options to consider.... Maybe even Lisbon to SdC & the Finisterre loop again given the time. Lovely quandary to be in but a quandary nonetheless. Will see if I can make something a reality...
Thanks VNwalking - all good options. The first which you recently did, how many days approx? My sweetspot for distance is closer to 20 - 28K a day - closer to 30K and I turn into mush.. can do it but don't enjoy it.
I have a similar map as my screen saver and it does inspire!!!
Hello all you veteran peregrinos! I walked my first Camino from Lourdes to 'The end of the earth' last Sept / October... like many, I've caught the bug! Thank you to all who post such sage advice and keep the humor going on this awesome forum.
Now my question: I may have the opportunity to...
Forgive me Morgan but in what village is your second recommendation? It may be the lovely and inclusive wine I enjoyed at my delicious vegetarian meal in Logroño- (whilst not a vegan... the bocadillos and jamon, queso y huevos were becoming a bit toooo mainstream... ) anywho, I derail myself...
I do not often post but want to say that my experience there, just last week for 2 nights, was delightful. Joseph the owner is very accommodating - I found the cook a bit abrupt but dismissed it as stress- I’m so sorry about your experience but I do think it is an anomaly and not the norm...
Hi Davebugg, I arrive in Lourdes on the 10th and after a couple days getting some rest and exploring I'll head to SJPdP... and then beyond. This is my first Camino and I've got the first timer jitters - hope to meet you along the Camino at some point!! Buen travels & Camino!
Thank you all! Feeling better about it all... now just hoping someone will be on the same route when it is time to hike into the woods which I understand are quite isolated... I can hear the song in my head already... "Lions and tigers and bears, Oh My!" mixed with some Hail Mary's!! :)
Thank you Felipe... unfortunately the thread doesn't seem to be working. Through further research I see that i need to look for 'gites' and I'm going to hope and pray that the tourist office in Lourdes will have some info.. I just know i'll be whipped from the jet lag and long commute to get...
Jabba Pappa, do you have any advice on how to find the Santiago Pilgrim Hostels in the 7 probable stops from Lourdes to SJPdP? I'm having difficulty finding locales... Also a bit concerned about going all the way to Asson on the first day.. looking to stop in Lestelle Betharram and there are...
I depart in 5 weeks and am still figuring it out! Thinking a beginning in Lourdes might be a nice break in - has anyone does this or have any advice? I'll be solo and currently flying into Madrid but can adjust if flights are available as I'm using FF miles.
Thank you & Buen Camino to all!
