Peter, I have used Gronze on my Android phone. I looked up the gronze site on my phone and when I had it open, I bookmarked the page to my home screen and now, with wifi, it is a 1 touch opening to the Gronze site.
I have walked 4 times from St Jean and after flying from W/Canada I need certainty for my first few nights sleep. I would not skip Roncesvalles. I think it is the first introduction to being in the Pilgrim experience. I now book to Pamplona. After that it evens out.
I am now in Rabanal del Camino and I am booking ahead due to so many Albergues being closed. In Rabanal at least 50% ate closed. I am trying to book 3 days ahead. It's not as enjoyable as my 2 previous Caminos
I have run into some small issues with Albergues that are closed when i had expected them to be open. I did not book ahead for Uterga but no problem as I arrived around 13:30. I hoped for the same in Lorca but both Albergues are closed, as well in Villatuerta.. An extra 9.9 km at the end of a...

Arrived at CDG and Cleared Customs and immigration and walked to the TGV station. Total time from plane to train station 45 minutes. On my way to St. Jean.
jsalt was right. I walked the Frances twice and made a deliberate effort to make it different. The result was I probably enjoyed my second pilgrimage more. It is different because you meet different people and if you try and stay in different towns / albergues the whole experience is...
I have walked a total of 72 days on 2 trips along the Camino Frances and I only drank tap water. I used a bladder system and filled it from any source that was marked "potable" and never had any issues. Too many "different" foods than one is used to, may be the more likely cause.
I stayed there last September and was well treated on a busy Saturday night. A great meal. The locals were out in force, filled the bar and seemed to have a singing contest. Great family atmosphere.
I used an app on my Samsung phone last Aug/Sept while I walked the Camino Frances. It was called Locus Map and I downloaded the map of Spain. It is a free app with up to 3 downloads included. The map of Spain included many of the main Camino paths. Just zoom in and see the blue track and...
