There are a few albergues that require you to have started at least a certain distance before. Struggling to remember which ones. Burgos comes to mind and I think it was something like 50km prior. In these cases you need at least one stamp a day to show you've done the distance.

You're a tad late for Sepetmber 2016
We used booking.com last year.
There's two lists in the resources section here. Favourites and all albergues. Download & print both.
Assuming you're starting in St Jean, Belairi is the place to stay. Zubiri I recommend Suisse. El Jardin Muruzabal is excellent, do the meal there. Casa Magica is...
Download the Booking.com app to your phone before you leave, its the most used app on the Camino.
You may struggle in Zubiri if trying to stay there and its busy on the day. It's a couple of days in and a lot we walked with found Roncesvalles to Zubiri the hardest day.
You'l only need to book...
On 1st September 2016, my wife and I started the Camino Frances from St Jean. We took a few rest days during the trip and finished 10th October. There were a few things which were different to what we expected and I wanted to share this for the benefit of anyone considering a September Camino in...
On the Camino Frances last September, I took a two litre bladder. It was unseasonally hot and for the first week I often drank the lot and needed to fill up. Sometimes I could have filled up before I did, other times it was difficult. Brierlys book shows the drinking fontes on the maps so you...
The hospitalero in Roncesvalles that we spoke to said first two weeks of September are generally very busy and it usually much quieter after that.
Hope that helps
I don't think it will pass anytime soon. We got behind due to feet issues and the people coming up reported the same days later out of Roncesvalles.
We took a bus 40k into burgos so effectively caught up two days and it's still completo in most if not all of Castrojeriz.
Booking the night...
Sitting in Azofra right now and it doesn't seem that busy. But it was very busy the first few days. Roncesvalles was full on 2nd and 3rd. Zubiri were using their overflow on the fourth.
Things slowed a bit after Pamplona but I think this will be the first night we have stayed in a place that...
There are a couple of places you can book in Roncesvalles. We didn't and stayed in the monastery Albergue last night.
It was sold out on second and third of September. They say first two weeks of September are expected to be very busy.
When you get to the monastery albergue thy will sell you a...
We are using Express Bourricot, comes fairly highly recommended on this forum.
They pick up from the airport and drop in SJPdP for €19ea if five or more passengers, and take care of finding others to share the ride for you. Two hours after landing we should be in St Jean.
Hi,
Craig & Jackie, arriving St Jean 1st September.
Departing 2nd all the way to the end of the world.
We are flying into Biarritz about 2pm on the first, any one else arriving around the same time?
Looking into booking transfer from airport to St Jean.
