It is not possible to book an albergue on Booling.com even for a few nights. Even with a doctor‘s note ( in my case an ER doctor) I was forced out of an albergue in Burgos on the Camino Frances A similar situation occurred on the Camino Tolosana. Don’t count on albergue support if you have...
Santiago seems like a “holey” city. Similar experience in 2015. I was going the Covid drop in tourists would help Santiago citizens to appreciate the new influx of dinero. Remembering this and reading your post strengthens my November plans on walking through Santiago and not staying .
I think so. On two Caminos, I brought little water purifying tablets I would drop in my water pouch every 2-3 days to purify the water. No taste. Felt secure. No gastro problems either.
This may freak you out but on one Camino. There was a beautiful water fountain just -a few meters ahead…...
Because of a serious infection in my toes, I had to get a cab driving to the meseta. Then, debilitating shin splints prevented me from doing finisterre and Muxia which I did by car. I did not feel I cheated because I felt called to respect the healing I required to prevent further illness and...
These are called Menhirs. It is thought that they originate in Celtic times when the Celts invaded and colonized France Spain and norther n Portugal. Their raison d’être is still shrouded in mystery. Some surmise or was to commentate the death of a great soldier others invoke guiding of troops...
My experiences with contacting Orisson years ago was the same. Only when I sent multiple requests in French did I receive an answer… a glib one! Once there, I learned from a staff member who listened attentively to my experience, that Orisson in such in high demand that good customer service is...
Just my input… on my Caminos in Spain and France hotels were cheaper if higher were not booked through Booking.com. I would book by phone and the owner usually offered a lower price if it was not through and app.
Just my opinion but definitely starting at Roncesvalles the most sense. Not so sure about Albergues and dogs even if they are cute. I would suggest doing some internet work and locate pensions and private accommodations.
My sense of Orisson a few years ago when I was there that this is run with the primary objective to make money first then to service pilgrims who have little option other than stay there. It was not a high vibrational experience to begin a Camino... keep trying.
It is very unfortunate that you have no visual
Memories of initial day of your departure. However, what a wonderful symbolic message that you walked with heart rather than with your brain! I’m the eternal optimist.
If it’s the Camino from Saint Jean Pieds de Port to Santiago, the answer is no. (Especially if you stick to the trail.) There use to be a wild dog problem but that was resolved 3 years ago.
