    LIVE from the Camino —Nájera

I always carry more meds than necessary, including antibiotics. Cheaper, faster if you know what ails you.

    LIVE from the Camino —Nájera

Same thing happened to me not far from Najera in June. In Spain it is fairly easy to buy Betadine, which is an iodine-based antiseptic, and very effective. I just put a few drops every night on top of the falling nail and the liquid by itself went under it. No injection needed. Also it was...

    LIVE from the Camino —Nájera

A few years ago I slipped and fell just outside the Oviedo Cathedral. In great pain I took a taxi to the nearest hospital. I had an X-Ray taken to determine the damage, and it turned out I broke a bone in my upper arm and needed an operation. For the hospital to be able to operate on me I needed...

Masks are only being worn inside bars and on the streets in big cities.

Crazy not to reserve in 2021 Holy Year?

Arrived today in Puente la Reina, the albergue Padres reparadores Is open, with a 50% limit. Weather is great, It is not necessary to reserve, the albergues that are open have very few pilgrims and could use more.

Crazy not to reserve in 2021 Holy Year?

I started from SJPP yesterday an am now in Zubiri. Public albergues are closed but private small ones are open. Most bars also. There are few pilgrims, as compared to 2019, which makes for a wonderful special feeling. No restrictions whatsoever other than wearing a mask in public places...

Took the Plunge and Booked for July 2021!!

Yes! that is my intention, but as I said, if by mid-May restrictions are still in place to cross from region to region, I would have to postpone.

Took the Plunge and Booked for July 2021!!

I have tickets for May 15 and I am planning to walk from Lourdes. I understand the "state of emergency" in Spain ends on May 9. So I keep my fingers crossed and wish I will not have to cancel like I did last year.

    Plans for 2021?

I intend to walk in late May 2021. Tickets have been bought. But I understand I might have to cancel in the last moment if quarantine is enforced by that time. I keep my fingers crossed.

    Which Camino in May/June?

The Meseta in May is not too sunny, but somewhat cloudy and cool. A few showers here and there.

    Meseta 2019

Meseta in May is wonderful: cool, green, flowers everywhere. Crowding quite reasonable.

    Last minute wobbles

Well, yes, it's 28 km of mountain trekking. But you can cut it halfway if need be or just slow down and go all the way. It is hard mainly because it's the first stage and your body is not yet used to the effort.

2nd Camino - Repeat CF or try something new?

I have walked the Norte twice, and met wonderful friends I still am in contact with. Less crowded perhaps than CF, but still not at all lonely. It is a very beautiful Camino, especially if you like coastal scenery.

Black Diamond Distance Carbon Z Poles Carry on Compatible?

I have taken my Z poles in cabin without a hassle. Neatly folded, with rubber tips on, they look so small and safe no agent has ever cuestioned them.

Thinking of doing Frances - Salvador - Primitvo

July 2016 I walked the norte Irun-Baamonde, could not finish in Santiago as I had to fly back on a certain date. So next year I am planning a shorter walk to avoid another heart break. It was so so sad to watch my Camino family walk away while I had to take the bus!
