    I have three winter camino Frances under my belt with number 4 coming up in January. Crocs are the way to go. Light, warmer then sandals and you can walk in them if you need a break from your boots. I walked with a pilgrim in early March who wore them the entire way instead of boots

    Fantastic parades and local celebrations. I was in the large city of Leon for Holy Thursday/Good Friday twice and was able to get a bed in an albergue without a problem.     Have done the CF three times all starting around the first of March. No need for reservations. Be prepared for snow in the high elevations. I love Semana Santa. Plan to go again in March 2023

    camino stage 1 st jean de port to longrono

    6-7 days of walking. Very well marked so no need of a guide. A guide book is handy but not necessary. Can get transportation back to st Jean or directly to a major city from Logrono.
