I enjoyed your Camino Portuguese blog very much especially the days from Lisbon.
We stayed at the Largo da Sé Guest House for two nights last April prior to starting our Camino. Good location down from the Cathedral and reasonable cost.

I know people are keen to walk the new bridge and boardwalk, However, having walked to Granja and Alpriate with great solitude I think this route will still be preferable to miles of unrelenting boardwalk. If I was doing the CP again I would follow the original route.

Walked it from Lisbon starting 5th April, very quiet to Porto, no issues at albergues for us. Temperatures were unseasonably hot at that time, sleeping bags were fine. No bed bugs issues. I think this subject is overstated. Lots of lovely accommodation other than albergues
We stayed overnight in the Buen Camino restaurant. It’s in a small town/village called A Escravitude. We had a lovely lunch of octopus. Just a note after lunch, the restaurant closes and there was nothing opened nearby for food. We were given a plate of meats and cheese are we were staying at...
For what it’s worth, I think the current route will be much better. After our 5th April walk on day one to Povoa de Santa Iria, walking through pleasant scenery is much preferable to a miles long monotonous boardwalk.
