Looking for advice walking from Lisboa

We stayed in Largo de Se Guest House. Recommended and close to the cathedral and also the “official” starting point in Lisbon.

    Starting in O Porriño

Any facility in O Porrino is fine that has a stamp. Cafe, bar etc. There is no particular starting point.

Growing numbers on the Camino Portugues - newspaper article

Are you doing this section again ? Was it about 7 years ago you walked from Lisbon? I enjoyed your Camino Portuguese blog very much especially the days from Lisbon.

Lisbon recommendations for the first night stay.

We stayed at the Largo da Sé Guest House for two nights last April prior to starting our Camino. Good location down from the Cathedral and reasonable cost.

    Lisbon to Porto: Jan 2024

As for clothing, maybe long sleeve technical Tee’s and an extra fleece. Other than that a normal “case”.

    Lisbon to Porto: Jan 2024

I walked the Camino Portuguese starting April in Lisbon. I enjoyed every single minute of it and had some great conversations with people on the way. I would never look back and think I should have started in Porto or anywhere else. It was like two different Caminos. Lisbon to Porto was quiet...

    Douro River Cruise

We are just back from a 17 day Temples and Treasures of Vietnam and Cambodia with Emerald River Cruises. The cruise part was 8 days sailing on the Meekong River. Emerald were an excellent company with an almost brand new boat and wonderful staff. Highly recommended. I’m sure they do cruises on...

Any updates on the new camino route out of Lisbon?

I know people are keen to walk the new bridge and boardwalk, However, having walked to Granja and Alpriate with great solitude I think this route will still be preferable to miles of unrelenting boardwalk. If I was doing the CP again I would follow the original route. I recognise everyone will...

    Portugues Central Route

Another vote. Had a great stay in April this year. Lovely modern albergue.

Any updates on the new camino route out of Lisbon?

I reckon the new boardwalk will shorten the original route by about 5km.

Ponte de Lima to Santiago in 4 days

It is realistic, but only you know the real answer.

What part of the Camino from Lisbon to Porto is worth seeing?

All of the Camino Portuguese, from Lisbon to Santiago, is worth seeing and walking.

Question about current Central Portuguese route conditions

Walked it from Lisbon starting 5th April, very quiet to Porto, no issues at albergues for us. Temperatures were unseasonably hot at that time, sleeping bags were fine. No bed bugs issues. I think this subject is overstated. Lots of lovely accommodation other than albergues

Any updates on the new camino route out of Lisbon?

Possibly train back to Lisbon from Povoa de Santa Iria

    Caldas de Reis to Padron

We stayed overnight in the Buen Camino restaurant. It’s in a small town/village called A Escravitude. We had a lovely lunch of octopus. Just a note after lunch, the restaurant closes and there was nothing opened nearby for food. We were given a plate of meats and cheese are we were staying at...

    Credencial in Lisbon

There is no lack of infrastructure geared towards the Camino between Lisbon and Porto.

Any updates on the new camino route out of Lisbon?

The new walkway will not be open for you.
  18. JimG59

Finally we can start to imagine the new exit of Lisbon - May 2023!

For what it’s worth, I think the current route will be much better. After our 5th April walk on day one to Povoa de Santa Iria, walking through pleasant scenery is much preferable to a miles long monotonous boardwalk.

Record numbers for February on the Camino Portugues

Thanks. The ratio from Lisbon is lower than I would have thought, 2-3%. So a solitary walk from Lisbon, getting busier from Porto.

Record numbers for February on the Camino Portugues

Any indication on how many started their Camino in Lisbon ?
