My girlfriend and i are starting in st jean middle of november, walking to santiago. Hoping enough albergues will still be open during our wintery walk!
I walked from Porto ( Portugal) last year and met pilgrims who had walked with their children for 14 days from there and had a great time. Its very beautiful. There is a coastal route or an inland one. Worth considering.

I am also having difficulties finding a way to get to sjpdp. I think i may just start walking straight out of Pamplona. I am taking the train to Pamplona the beginning of February and will investigate there whether there is a way, or just start walking!
