My first camino was from Salamanca via the Sanabres in 2016 and I walked the Torres followed by the Portuguese Central from Ponte de Lima in 2019. Both are pre-pandemic so things may have changed from an infrastructure point of view
Difficulty - I think this is a wash. The Torres was about 90...
If you want to avoid the crowds all the way you can take the Interior Camino Portuguese from Lamego rather than going on to Ponte de Lima. The downside of this option is missing Braga and Guimaraes.
It is a fine Camino with changes in landscape and atmosphere to provide a real sense of the...
I agree about the last stretch but I did enjoy it as I was feeling fit and was looking forward to reaching Ponte de Lima. I don't find walking on paved surfaces as much of a turn off as a lot of people and I enjoy the experience of being in Portugal in general
The stretch from Salamanca to...
It's been great following your posts which have brought back some very happy memories. I also remember some pretty sharp (but luckily not too long) climbs before Lamego. Are they still there?

I am doing an audio course in...
Thanks for the response. It chimes with what I had already found out. I will see how it goes. I suspect that by Lamego I will probably not be up to the challenge on the interior route.
Regards
I will be starting from Salamanca on May 5 with 21 days to walk to Santiago before flying home.
I will follow the Torres (all being well) as far as Lamego. I am currently uncertain whether to stay on the Torres through to Ponte de Lima or turn north on the interior route to Verin then take the...
