    Torres/Geira vs VdlP/Sanabres

My first camino was from Salamanca via the Sanabres in 2016 and I walked the Torres followed by the Portuguese Central from Ponte de Lima in 2019. Both are pre-pandemic so things may have changed from an infrastructure point of view Difficulty - I think this is a wash. The Torres was about 90...

    Torres....Great memories!

Most of it is in Portugal. The first c130km is in Spain the it is just about 400km to Tui.

    Compostela for Camino de Torres?

When I did it they would only give me a distance certificate from Almeida which stipulated that it was the Camino Portuguese.

    Camino de Torres from Salamanca

If you want to avoid the crowds all the way you can take the Interior Camino Portuguese from Lamego rather than going on to Ponte de Lima. The downside of this option is missing Braga and Guimaraes. It is a fine Camino with changes in landscape and atmosphere to provide a real sense of the...

LIVE from the Camino Camino Torres Trancoso-Braga June 2021

I agree about the last stretch but I did enjoy it as I was feeling fit and was looking forward to reaching Ponte de Lima. I don't find walking on paved surfaces as much of a turn off as a lot of people and I enjoy the experience of being in Portugal in general The stretch from Salamanca to...

LIVE from the Camino Camino Torres Trancoso-Braga June 2021

I don't think anyone has posted an account of the Geira on here before so you will be trailblazers!

LIVE from the Camino Camino Torres Trancoso-Braga June 2021

It's been great following your posts which have brought back some very happy memories. I also remember some pretty sharp (but luckily not too long) climbs before Lamego. Are they still there? Mesao Frio was all roadworks when I was there and climbing up to the windmills the next morning was all...

LIVE from the Camino Camino Torres Trancoso-Braga June 2021

Enjoy. It will mainly be on roads but the Douro valley is special.

    Advice needed please

I walked from Salamanca in May. The section before the Douro is through much less densely populated regions. There is quite a lot of road walking but none on busy roads. I would definitely recommend persevering.

    Post Camino Torres thoughts

I have found the section on the website and will email but only in English I'm afraid.

    Post Camino Torres thoughts

I walked from Salamanca to Ponte De Lima between the 5th and 19th of May before continuing on to Santiago on the Central Route. As the dust has now settled and I have been chained back at my desk for a over a week my thoughts are now clear enough to post a report that I hope helps to update the...

    Which way from Lamego

Thanks Magwood. I have already read your blog which I enjoyed enormously. I will particularly take notes on accommodation as this is a bit daunting bit for me due to limited Spanish and Portuguese. I certainly hope that there won't be any loose bulls this year! I am doing an audio course in...

    Which way from Lamego

Thanks for the response. It chimes with what I had already found out. I will see how it goes. I suspect that by Lamego I will probably not be up to the challenge on the interior route. Regards

    Which way from Lamego

I will be starting from Salamanca on May 5 with 21 days to walk to Santiago before flying home. I will follow the Torres (all being well) as far as Lamego. I am currently uncertain whether to stay on the Torres through to Ponte de Lima or turn north on the interior route to Verin then take the...
