Agree, great summary, I find it quite surprising that so many ppl want to take poles as carry on, you can’t carry a knife on board which is obvious to most, poles with their carbide tips can be a much more dangerous “weapon” than a pocket knife…- Bernardo77

Change of rules on checking in hiking poles at SCQ airport
Starting Camino in 2 weeks and worried about this, is it ok if the poles are inside our backpacks as checked in luggage, not carry on, we will be wrapping the backpacks in cling wrap at the South African Airport and only opening after arrival in Spain.
