In May 2022 I I wanted to jump start my Camino Ingles with a walk from Samos to SdeC. Flew into SdeC and stayed the night. Then bought a SdeC-Samos ticket at the new SdeC Intermodal station for E 11.60 cash. Did not pre-book. Had no trouble buying the ticket. Bus was only half full. Very...
Nursing a hurt foot in Sept 2021 I taxied down from El Acebo to Molinaseca. Driver charged me and another pilgrim E 10 each, and proved to be vey pleasant fellow -- a Molinaseca native. "Taxi Molinaseca Luis, +34-671-708-070." Can recommend w/o reservation.
Glad to see that you're hanging in...
When I arrived at the Leon bus station in late October 2023 I discovered that the comfy old Terminal building was closed -- under total reconstruction. People were milling about amongst the external bus-stop slots hoping to make their connections. Much confusion. Hope things are better now.
Agreed! If there's a bus to Burgos, they'll surely know.
On my September 2019 Camino my back had begun to hurt very badly by the time I reached Fromista. I went to the Turismo in town center and asked about public transportation to my next target town, Carrion de los Condes. The lady I spoke...
Another vote for the Hostal Viky, in the Barajas centro viejo. It's a bit minimalist, but my needs have always been simple. There are several restaurants and shops just around the corner, on the charming Plaza Mayor -- I recommend the tapas at the Lizarran.... And the free airport shuttle is a joy.
Just completed my short October 2023 Camino Frances experience. Spectacular experience, as usual, but unlike any of my previous walks.... Because a twice-broken back since my Spring 2022 walk meant that I traveled mostly by bus. My cross-country days are behind me.
Now, bus travel in Spain is...
Multiple daily 4-hour ALSA bus trips direct from MAD Terminal 4 to Leon centro. Cheap and very comfortable. No awkward shuttling to train stations required. Doesn't get any easier or lower-stress than that!

Just pay the bus driver. If you try to buy a ticket from the cafe attendant inside the bus station that's what he'll tell you to do..... The ticket to Leon is cheap -- just a couple of euros. And there's literally dozens of buses pausing here every day on the way to Leon. Easy peasy!
In June 2022 I flew on Ryanair from Santiago to MAD Barajas, 6:45-8 AM. Fight was fine. Had ample time and no trouble catching my 11:15 AM United flight to the States. Go for it.
The Logrono to Madrid bus ride, before reaching Soria, goes through some staggeringly beautiful country. And, if you're attentive and know where and when to look for them, you can glimpse the remains of the great lost pre-Roman city of Numancia from the bus.
You can catch a very local early/mid-morning bus from the Fromista town-center tourism kiosk to Carrion. Clean, comfortable and cheap. Sorry -- don't have bus company name, or schedule. Inquire at the tourism kiosk.
