I have only been on the Norte, and there I found the shops few and far between the few “cities“. There are several days that only go through villages. Be sure to have what you need, especially for rain. Buen Camino!
I walked del Norte in May 2016; started in San Sebastián, which was a great little city (Old Town) as long as I didn’t get lost. After I lost my guide, which I named The Crappy, I downloaded Wise Pilgrim Guide on my phone. It has altitude, distance, allergies, booking.com link - everything I...
I walked the Norte in 2016 and first had a guidebook we nicknamed The Crappy. Luck for me it was stolen off my table while in the bathroom. I downloaded Wise Pilgrim and it was great.
I echo all that you said. The Camino is an amazing place! I did check with Correos before I left Santiago, and it was stolen. Even the police looked for it. I did get my 32E back! Hopefully my insurance claim goes smoothly!
It's the best thing that happened to me . My Camino is better for it. I highly recommend spending a few days in Santiago to reflect on what it all means. :)
I'm in Santiago! Just had lunch and a great visit with a pilgrim friend I met in Orieo, my first albergue! I got my compostela but I'm visiting the church later. Also early in tomorrow morning when there's no one there. Still taking in the reality of it all but feeling peaceful, happy and...
So very grateful for your support and encouragement and loving advice. And so very grateful for Christina at Carman's albergue in Maariz. She was my angel in taking me and interpreting to the police, and loving and caring in so many ways. I'm in Vilalba having lunch and waiting for the bus to...
My pack got stolen today. I left it at the albergue in Ribadeo for correos to pick up. They messaged me it wasn't there. This is the first time I was using them. They said they've never had a pack stolen. (don't believe that) I was using pack transport because of my toe injury, having to wear...
This came to me from a pilgrim friend, a female walking alone right now. I'm posting this to share with others.
"I'm in Buelna tonight.
I have to warn you girls that; do NOT walk alone after Colombres to La Franca. I met 2 freaks this evening at around 6. Was walking alone, tired after 35k and...
I developed tendonitis along my shin to my ankle. Walked very slowly for a week and it got worse. I saw a doctor in Santander who said rest 2-3 days and put me on 600 mgs. ibuprofen every 8 hours and a tummy tamer. I'm extremely bored and will go nuts by tomorrow but I know my leg is not up to...
I'm in Bilbao, on my way tomorrow to San Sebastian. I thought I'd see at least one pilgrim at the airport or on the street. Nada. I saw one back pack on the carousel that had safety pins hanging off it. Suspicious. Then I found out my bag was in another room. Hope to see someone soon. I'm lonely.o_O
