    The “Old” Camino Inglés Options

For those considering the Ingles, heed the words above. I do not understand the re routing at all. The older routes spend more time away from the roads, take them where you can. But don't get lost!

    Camino Ingles in 3 days?

Edit: I also remember a particularly steep long uphill section as soon as you leave pontedeume on your longest day! I remember this as I did it twice (had to go back to return the albergue key!)

    Camino Ingles in 3 days?

Hiya. I'd say it can be done from Ferrol but it's long days. 29k to pontedueme, 47k to Bruma, 45k to sdc. I'd be worried about accommodation at Bruma. The hostel was full by about 2pm when I walked in 2018. You'd be getting there a lot later than that and there's not much else around if I...

Final Long Walk Before Departing for the Ingles

Hi Dave. A quick thought. The Ingles was re-routed a couple of years ago. I did it last year and took the old routes (easy to find using the buen Camino app and a gps app (I use osmand). I have to recommend you do the same. The new route spends too long on roads for my liking when there is a...

    Camino Ingles Question

Yes there is a bar about 100m from the albergue. And yes there is a small mobile shop that turns up late afternoon. Biggest concern at Bruma is number of beds. But the hospitalera will help in finding a taxi to other accommodation.

Transport from A Coruna (airport) to Ferrol

Everyone here has given you more info than I can remember! I'll just add I did the bus option. 1 from the airport to the bus station and then bus to ferrol and it worked out fine. Although had an hour wait in la caruna and there didn't seem to be much around the bus station......

    Hotel in Ferrol

I stayed in the Hotel America on Rua Sanchez Calviño. Cheap, nice friendly owner, clean. Fairly simple and breakfast was minimal. About 1k from the start of the Camino.

Old Ingles vs New Ingles Route

On my app... Pull up the main menu (top left button with 3 lines). Then settings (bottom left button shaped like a cog). From there you can set the language in a drop down box at the top. Like I say - on my android.....

Old Ingles vs New Ingles Route

Hi Drew. On android (which I use) the app is buen Camino. I've just had a look at the Apple app store and yes I think you're right. The guide of the way of st James looks like the same app. Yellow arrow on blue for an icon and the screen shots look the same. Hope this helps.

Old Ingles vs New Ingles Route

Yes! It is possible. I used the buen camino app which shows both the new and the old route. Old route on forestry tracks. New route on roads. Madness (imho). But using the app with maps and gps it's easy to stay on the old route. Only had 1 spot where the old route was physically gone, but there...

    Camino Ingles or Norte?

When I started reading your post my first thought was the Ingles. It's a great first Camino. First couple of days are only about 15km or so. But I don't like the route changes from last year, bit too much road walking now. And there are some steep bits. The norte/French option would be busy...

    Travel to Ferrol

I agree. Last year I flew Manchester to Madrid then flew Madrid to la caruna. Then bus to ferrol. Wasn't too bad.

If you had to choose ... I’m deciding between the Camino Inglés and then on to both Fisterra and Muxia OR Camino Primitivo

Hmmm. Both have their merits. You can and will find descriptions of pros and cons of both. Imo the primitivo is tougher but if you are up to the challenge then that would be my choice. More countryside and a bigger achievement. Nothing wrong with the other route though. I loved the primitivo. I...

    Old guide or new?

Hi. I am currently on the ingles, at Bruma. I am using the buen Camino app which shows both the new and the old routes. I've taken the old route every time. It is longer but is away from the road. I do not understand why they have re-routed to make pilgrims walk on main roads. There are not any...
