My sleeping bag is too tight

Do you need one at all at that time of year? I gave my sleeping bag away in Pamplona to someone who needed it so did the whole of the rest of the Frances without one. I get cold easily but really was only a bit chilly once. I just put more clothes on to go to bed. That was April / May 2023. Just...

    Apple Air Tag

Good video, told me a couple of things I didn’t know but why on earth would you clip it to the outside of your case, bag , whatever? Easy to steal. I used them on my Camino and found them really useful. One in my bum bag , one in my rucksack. Just comforting more than anything.

For Sale/Wanted In need of hiking poles in Aborim

Any pole will do. I found bandaging my knees helped a lot. Rest for a couple of days and going to a bigger place may help to find what you need. Pharmacists In Spain are wonderful and a great help too

    Wearing glasses when it rains

    What I said

    Wearing glasses when it rains

Yes. Go into somewhere that sells cheap ones , take a book or try to read your phone and experiment. I can read my phone without my glasses but I just prefer lenses for so many reasons so cheap reading glasses are the answer. My eyes are - 2.75 so I use a +2 for reading and for further away +1.5.

    Wearing glasses when it rains

I wear contact lenses and can't cope with glasses in the rain. My solution is reading glasses for reading your phone etc. I buy them from the poundshop and elsewhere and it works. If you lose them they're easily replaced. Just a thought. I managed the whole of the Frances without losing my...

    Umbrellas

I used a very small one on the meseta and other places when it was very hot. I can’t tell you the exact make as I have a cat on my knee and can’t get up, it only weighs 8g though. I had a lot of people comment that they wished they’d thought of that, but then one day after it had drizzled a...

WOOT!!!! Final Packing List - please comment!

    I was wondering that too

Portable bidet - would you use it?

This way you really have no contact with anything as it’s got a sort of handle. Anyway a splash of water would do.
  10. @Ditts

Portable bidet - would you use it?

No and unnecessary weight. I used a pee pad, most are infused with something or other and cost about £10. Mine’s a square and has poppers and you just attach it to your back pack and wash out each night. I think it’s called piss off or something, am out so can’t look. Worked really well for me...

Enquiry about foot care, bunions, weather…..

I walked the Frances from SJPDP this year. I wore Salomon trailster 2 gtx and thinish Merino mix socks, one pair not two, used Elastoplast wound ointment on my feet every day, much the same as Vaseline only much thicker. No blisters at all for the whole thing. Everyone is different but if...

    Goretex shoes?

I used Salomón trailster 2 gtx. Not a single blister and my feet got hot like anyone else I suppose but bought two more pairs when I got home ready for other caminos. You know how they go out of fashion in about a week these days. I used thin merino mix socks too. Didn’t double sock or use thick...

    Jeans on the camino

I’ll be in Cheltenham today doing a stall on the promenade from about 11.30 for a couple of hours. If you’re about come and say hello

    Jeans on the camino

Interesting and thanks. I much prefer cotton t shirts too but will probably do merino and synthetic because if ease of washing. Somehow jeans shouldn’t need as much washing as top halves. My jeans are what I wear every day. They’re not hugely heavy unless they’re wet of course. They are just the...

    Jeans on the camino

Thankyou. Im not quite thirty anymore either. I’ll turn 62 in may probably on the Camino
  19. @Ditts

    Jeans on the camino

May come to that but as I’ve said earlier I’m not so keen on leggings. Don’t really like tight clingy things. I do own a pair though. Certainly practical

    Jeans on the camino

    That would be brilliant.
