¡Hola Gerardo! My Osprey 36 L pack is plenty big - I carry it on going to Spain, then check it in on the return full of my stuff+ gifts - Spanish olive oil, etc. Claro, todo es una preferencia personal. Buen camino.
I freely admit to being a Luddite and have found that keeping my phone on airplane mode while traveling works for me. I only use the phone when I have access to Wi-Fi - which works even on airplane mode. I can take the phone off airplane mode and use it to make calls if necessary, which I did...
It's all about lightweight layers! I have my undershirts (3 of them), a long sleeve lightweight hiking shirt (2 of them), a fleece vest and my Patagonia puff jacket - summer or winter these layers keep me warm and cool (when I start taking things off! ) It's definitely a journey to figure out...
I decided not to carry a poncho last year on the Coastal Portugues and just took a large garbage bag (very light!). I used the garbage bag and my dorky hat for 2 days - no problem!
We are coming in from San Francisco, CA and starting in Porto on May 9, would love to find some used walking sticks/hiking poles either in Lisboa or Porto for our walk to Santiago where we hope to donate the hiking poles to the Pilgrim House in Santiago. Please advise. Thank you.

My experience on the Camino (and while backpacking) is that you are right - if fitted correctly, the pack becomes one with the body!
Agree with many of the above - I did not use a lock either - just took a collapsible day pack to carry valuables at the end of the day to shower, etc. and it went into my big pack during the day.
