😂 yes strange looks indeed. The dog doesn’t mind and neither do I as I am dry!
This is my second poncho and the other as described by the OP is not up to much. My Decathlon one in in reality a long jacket or better, a coat. Pit zips, sleeves, pocket entry and the ability to run a belt from...
I carried a ‘wind shirt’ and a poncho. Poncho was for the rain and wind shirt - what it says on the tin, means it cuts the wind and ventilates well in the way that a waterproof jacket does not. In short it is much more comfortable to wear over any combination of clothing assuming it is not...
I totally agree. Love using books for preparation and indeed writing on/ placing notes in but they do date very quickly.
I tend to put everything onto the phone which you are carrying anyway - book, Apps, photos of specific items or instructions, tickets etc.
I do carry paper but very little...
As has been alluded to above by Peter, WhatsApp uses data (4G very often) as such it is not a phone and connects through a VIOP signal to speak to another person (Voice Over Internet Protocol) in effect it is a computer speaking to another computer. If the receiving computer does not have the...
Fleece definitely. Fleece retains 35% of thermal ability when utterly soaking, wool does 50%, down jacket does ZERO.
A synthetic puffa keeps more heat than down when sodden.
At the end of my Frances I was in Santiago and noticed that the adaptor I was using all month was now running extremely hot. So hot it failed and got the bin!
Beware of adaptors that are not bought with the device!
Now…. I remember the time in the Himalayas when the charger was loose in the...
Kindle App on phone does that same thing.
Power bank only take if is is the side of a double thick credit card and gives your phone a full charge. Tiny but does the job if required.
Torch- I Carry one but rarely use it. As an ex mountain rescuer they are invaluable as safety gear. Make sure...
I have been using these from Decathlon for months
If you are shorter than me they work as a standard Walking pole with wrist straps.
They have ergonomic handles that are padded and which need hardly any pressure to hold.
Given their low price and availability at Decathlon stores in most...
If the hood has size altering loops on it consider slipping hi viz reflective tape through the loop and stick the tape to itself, not the jacket.
This tape catches headlights as it moves and changes angle. In addition it is in my case bright yellow and visible. If on the hood it should be high...
I totally agree
Having scraped many people off roads (literally) I am well aware what a fast moving vehicle will do to to flesh and bone.
The more visible that you can be the better.
Reflective hi vis tape on walking poles is good as it changes a flickers in headlights.
Reflective hi viz tape...
For me the colour, reflecting strip and 100g is worth your life on wet roads in dim light.
Yes it has put zips in answer to the next question after this and importantly Velcro as opposed to elasticated cuffs.
As Gobsmacked says the waterproofness is of a high rating.
I see that you are not from Europe. Decathlon have an excellent poncho MT 900 with all the advantages of your Packa with many of the same disadvantages
It is long (I am 6’1”) (or short of you wish with the right size)
Has pit zips
Double way zipper
Velcro flap cover if you don’t want the zip...
Absolutely! i had one given to me that got so hot that it could barely be removed from the socket. With Spanish sockets not generally having an adjacent OFF switch they really are a hazard.
