    Topo Wearers!

I've walked several caminos in my topos and I love them. I go up half a size and usually wear thinner smart wool socks, sometimes paired with injinji's, depending on the weather. I use heel lock lacing and I also lace for a high instep, which has worked really well for me. Photo of high instep...

Being prepared for the rain 🌧️

I just got back from two weeks on the Camino Portugues where it rained every single day so I can honestly say that my equipment was thoroughly tested. Before I list my rain gear, let me say this: it really does matter what kind of weather/rain you're dealing with, cold or hot, wind or no wind...

Hiking Poles with Angled Grips similar to Pacer Poles?

My experience is that flying economy (or whatever they call the cheap seats) on a major airline does not include a checked bag unless you upgrade and pay for it. I’ve flown to Europe many times and usually I choose not to pay extra because, like I said, it’s not worth it. I also don’t like...

Hiking Poles with Angled Grips similar to Pacer Poles?

I have pacer poles and I love them. But the cost of a checked bag to bring them along isn’t feasible when I can buy the ones mentioned above (from Decathlon) for a good price.

Is it possible to order from Decathlon for delivery to an albergue?

Thanks, Corned Beef, You've been so generous with your help. I really appreciate it. I went back to Amazon, and picked a different set of poles and, strangely, the shipping was free. Don't know what I did wrong the first time (I'm only half-way tech-savvy) but I finally got a nice pair of poles...

Is it possible to order from Decathlon for delivery to an albergue?

Wow. I did not catch that! I do have friends who are not in the US but I'd hate to bother them with this. Maybe I should find a different solution. Thanks!

Is it possible to order from Decathlon for delivery to an albergue?

I'm back for some more advice. I first tried Amazon but with delivery fee and taxes, it wasn't worth it. Then I tried Decathlon Portugal and I'm almost there, with free delivery to my albergue, but the website won't accept my payment. I've tried two different credit cards, multiple times, but no...

Is it possible to order from Decathlon for delivery to an albergue?

Thanks for all your suggestions. I contacted an albergue down the road, at my first stop past the airport, in Vilarinho at Albergue Casa Laura and she responded right away that it would be fine to send a package to her from either Amazon or Decathlon. So that's the plan for now. I love this...

Is it possible to order from Decathlon for delivery to an albergue?

Wow! Thanks so much! Very helpful!

Is it possible to order from Decathlon for delivery to an albergue?

Yes, I sent a message to the albergue several days ago and haven't heard from them yet. I have time, but I'd like to solve this before I leave for Europe. Just wondering if anyone else had done it successfully.

Is it possible to order from Decathlon for delivery to an albergue?

Can I have them shipped directly to the abergue? Thanks for the suggestion.

Is it possible to order from Decathlon for delivery to an albergue?

This might work, but I'm getting in late and leaving early, so I'm thinking if I can get them delivered I'll be all set. Thanks, though. This could be the way I have to go, if I can't have them delivered.

Is it possible to order from Decathlon for delivery to an albergue?

I’m flying on Tap Air from Geneva after a couple of weeks of travel with family. Looks like a checked bag will be around $44, so while it might be easier, it will cost more than I'd like to spend, if there's an alternative. If I was traveling from home and already had my poles already purchased...

Is it possible to order from Decathlon for delivery to an albergue?

Has anyone ordered from Decathlon and had their order shipped to an albergue? I’m from the US, if that matters. I’m planning to walk from the Porto airport area and I’ll need to buy walking sticks since I can’t bring them in carry-on. Or is there a place nearby where I can buy sticks? I’m...

    Hiking/Walking Shoes or Sandals

I’m a big fan of Topo Athletic shoes. I have gone through several pairs of the Ultraventures style with good success. Other styles have more cushioning, I think. They all have the wide toe box, which I love.

    Ultimate Dog Repellent

Last week while walking the Norte an otherwise adorable ankle-bitter (chihuahua) ran towards me barking ferociously. Luckily I had my poles out so I faced him and held him at a distance with my poles until his owners ran out and retrieved him. I have no doubt he would have bitten me if I had...

Where do you carry your valuables?

I suppose the answer is different for women and men. I carry a cross-body bag (or waist pack slung across my body). I put that on first and then my backpack so the cross-body bag stays with me all the time. Drop the backpack and keep the cross-body bag. It contains passport and wallet and...

    Topo ultraventure 2

I size up a half size. I was able to order my shoes directly from the topo website: https://www.topoathletic.com/ Good luck!

I don’t like mummy sleeping bags

I love this Sea to Summit sleeping bag. I've carried it on every Camino (8, depending on how you count them). You can spread it out flat like a blanket or just zip up the bottom end a little bit to keep your feet warm and to keep it from sliding off during the night. Highly recommended.

For Sale/Wanted Sell/swap Purple Rain skirt size M in Europe?

Hi there, I have a large Purple Rain skirt that I would love to trade! I've worn it but it feels a little too big for me and I'd always wished I had ordered the medium. Mine is purple, btw. I live in the states so not sure how much it will cost to ship to wherever you are but I will be in Spain...
