Good point by Trecile. You could be taking home bedbugs from the Camino, the airport, the airplane. When I get home I always put everything, including the clothes I'm wearing into a large garbage bag and put it into a freezer, or outside in the sun for a few days, anywhere there is prolonged...- Ihor

I suggest you look at Mountain Hardwear packs. I had an earlier version without a top zipper, just drawstring and flap - very sturdy and simple designed (originally) to be carried in a main pack and use for the final climb. Sorry, I'm not a fan of Tilley hats. Since my 20's, always wore a 'proper' fedora. I bought my current one the last time I was in Leon at the hat shop. It's 100% wool, waterproof and crushable (made in Italy). When new it was a dark olive green but now it's weatherbeaten to a light greenish...- Ihor

Poll Sleep system: Sleeping bag, liner, etc?
I scrolled through but didn't find any using my system--an 'overbag' and sleeping clothes. An overbag is simply a zippered rectangular bag you put over another sleeping bag to get extra warmth, but I use the overbag by itself. The 'top' is Thinsulate and the 'bottom' is a sheet. What experience have people had with waterproof socks?
I'm with Marquez. I've walked various parts of the Camino from April to October in my Teva (Taochi?) water sport sandals with medium weight merino ankle wool socks through heat, cold, rain and mud, uphill, downhill. No problem, no blisters. Wet sandals dry on your feet when the sun comes back...- Ihor
