Pacer Pole user since 2010 here -- and yes I'm still on my original set. There are two differences I can see between Pacers and the York-Nordics: the shape of the grip and the angle of the grip to the long axis of the pole. Plus, the Yorks are built for the lighter pressure of Nordic-style use...
Gee, I never have problems, but then I'm an engineer.
1. Lay the beast out flat
2. Fold lengthwise as you like (Z-folds, W-folds, H-folds, it does not matter, as long as the outside is outside) until you have a long format of poncho about 6 inches (15cm) wide), or the depth of your (new) stuff...
I swore by Altra until for the CF I needed more cushion in the sole, and shifted to Hokka. Had a great experience with that brand -- ordered the womens 12 to be delivered to my local REI, tried on both the Hokka and Altra, returned the Altra on-site.
Another point to consider is that this is the...
Myself, I found the Lone Peak footbeds seemed to change from year to year. After several years in a 4.0 size 11, I upgraded to a 5.0 size 12 which simply didn't work. Went to a Hokka Speedgoat instead which was perfect for the CF. In all cases, Superfeet Green insoles were almost the same as my...
Glass is heavy! Glass is the heaviest component of (almost) any electronics gadget. The bigger the glass, the heavier it is. So, a notebook is bigger=heavier than a tablet, a tablet is bigger=heaver than a phone, a big phone is bigger=heavier than a small phone. Remember ebook readers and solar...
Over my nine years of Camino walking, my footwear system has evolved (ie, trial and error). I've been using prescription orthotics ever since the plantar fasciitis on Year1. Started out with Vasque leather boots + liner + wool, then shifted to Altra Lone Peaks + Darn Tough. This year, responding...
You're looking for the Osprey Exos 38. https://www.backcountry.com/b/osprey-packs-exos-38l-backpack I've been using the previous (non-adjustable) version Exos for the past ten years, they hold up really well. It has all the features you're looking for as well as light weight and an adjustable...
Here's the pullover I bought from Senchi Designs. It was quite comfortable for the half-hour or so of first-thing-in-the-morning wear that I used it, for a week plus. I wouldn't think you'd need another layer over it as wear protection, but they did provide a mesh bag for use when washing...
There's a new product on the market that might interest you: Polartec Alpha. I discovered this just prior to my recent CF camino, and was able to grab one just days before departure. The fleece top (non-hoodie version) weighs only 3.8 oz (less than 100g), and was toasty warm. Not as warm as a...
@AnnabelP At any rate, as you can tell by now, there are an entire squadron of us perched on the edge of our seats, awaiting the final verdict. Enquiring minds want to know if this gets fixed!
If the lubricant method fails, you can try manipulating the zipper "head". Take a thin-bladed flat screwdriver (or maybe a table knife) and slide it into the "mouth" between the underside of the "head" and the row of interlocked "teeth". This will open the "mouth" just slightly (hopefully!) and...
Ever since my second walk (on the Le Puy, 2011), I have used and loved my 500g Passion One from Yeti (now "Y by Nordisk). Here are features to look for in your system: light weight (1 pound or 450g is sufficient for indoor use), full length zipper (so it opens flat, and can be used as a quilt --...
Weigh. Everything. Including. The Bags.
It amazed me how heavy the traditional Eagle Creek cubes were, so I shifted to a mix of other containers. In some lodgings, one must empty the pack, leaving it at the front. So be prepared. Different colors, shapes, and sizes will help you find what you...
Weight can be deceptive -- a digital scale (I use mine from the kitchen) can be eye-opening. Things one wouldn't think weigh much at all turn out to be a kilo! It all adds up. Silk liners are very lightweight; they are also quite slick and can be confining if you don't open up one of the side seams.
That only shows a partial set, from western France onward. As we all know, the modern well-marked routes begin on the far eastern fringes of Catholic Europe:
