    Is this Camino clothing heresy?

Hi, The French call the (boiler suit) "salopette". Plenty of models here: https://la-salopette.fr/collections/salopette-homme with this slogan: "Looking for comfort?" :) Plenty of models : denim, camo, alleged US Military, detachable top... but not really cheap... :(

    Is this Camino clothing heresy?

Hi, By the way : backpacks are to be carried with a belt, if not on the very light side.

    Is this Camino clothing heresy?

"what is all this to do with short sleeved boiler suits??" : my comment was... about boiler suits, not kilts.

    Is this Camino clothing heresy?

Hi, Just one thing : you will have to wash - and dry! - the whole of it. With a more conventional attire, your daily washing is only your t-shirt and underwear.

    Backpack Pick

Hi, You might be happy with this backpack : https://sierradesigns.com/flex-capacitor-40-60/ I have one, use it for mountain trips, and I like it. IMHO, I would have no use for a smaller pack, which would weigh about the same and might be less comfortable.

    New backpack strange.

Hi, Reportedly, the Vietnamese have solved this problem, using bamboo (or other material) flexibility : (pic from Seoul News travel blog) A good load carrier should adjust his (in fact, most often her...) pace so that the loads have the least vertical movement relative to the ground. Cheap...

Comfy shoes/boots and laces that don't come undone

One of the beauties of Ian's secure knot : you undo it by pulling one, or both, loose ends. So it doesn't behave like a "double knot". And another one : you adjust the length of the loops by pulling the loops, to lengthen them, or the loose ends to shorten them.

Comfy shoes/boots and laces that don't come undone

Hi, Consider "Ian's secure knot". I have used it for years and never seen it getting undone. Also very easy to adjust, and to undo. Just try it! https://www.fieggen.com/shoelace/secureknot.htm

    Macabi skirt shipping to EU

Hi, We ordered Macabi skirts from France, three times (back in 2013 and 2019*), opting for Priority Mail International or First-Class Mail International Each time we got the parcel after one to three weeks, if I remember well. But safe! True also for shipment of other orders from the US, with...

    Macabi skirt sizing/slim/usage

Hi, My wife has got Macabi skirts, both regular and slim ones. While the slim one has less material involved, it's definitely not tight and cannot impede walking for anybody. And to my eyes, it's more of a fashionable piece of clothing :)

The "Parcho" - rain gear for DIYers

Hi, Also make sure to use really sharp sewing needles (Microtex or equivalent).

"Wear one, wash one" or "wear one, wash one and spare one"

Hi, In fact, washing is not a problem. Wet is washed, as the saying goes in the military. But drying is the problem, especially when the days shorten (September/October). Yes, you're better off if bringing a piece of cord, twisting the wet items inside some dry towel, hanging them on the...

"Wear one, wash one" or "wear one, wash one and spare one"

Hi, Like many other ones : wear one, wash one. Except for socks (3 pairs in total), which dry slowly and could hurt your feet if worn semi-damp. In autumn, I may bring one piece of a warmer item (especially a long-arm T-shirt), which will be also a kind of spare item.

The "Parcho" - rain gear for DIYers

Hi, A smart alternative for straight seams. Yes, the Parcho has some "T" seams (refer to the .pdf), but no place with concentrated stresses. Note that the hood has to be sewn around a curve, which is probably difficult to glue. Some Velcro as well.

Poncho quandary — Altus, Frogg Toggs, Vaude, or something else?

Hi, Easy with the Parcho. More difficult with most other ones.

The "Parcho" - rain gear for DIYers

Not to mention the (double) waouh effect when you wear your Parcho : "Waouh, what a poncho! What's the brand ? " "Hum, well, I did it myself, it's a kit..." "Waouh!" :)

The "Parcho" - rain gear for DIYers

Sure. I copy my comments from the earlier thread, for easier reading : I have sewn one for me and one for my wife. Both of us are really happy with it : - half the weight of the Ferrino Trekker we used before : less weight in the pack, and less sticky when worn. - "batman" sleeves with lot...

The "Parcho" - rain gear for DIYers

Hi, For answering some questions : (Both measures are metric) Let's say a short/wide hot dog ? Or some BigM..c ? Not fully compressed in its bag. The silnylon is here : The ripstop pattern is rather discrete. Same one on the bag (1st picture). The sealant is a no brainer : some domestic...

Poncho quandary — Altus, Frogg Toggs, Vaude, or something else?

In fact, Altus, Ferrino Trekker, Parcho and the like are not basic ponchos (a square and a hood) but raincoats, which do not flip around in the wind.

Poncho quandary — Altus, Frogg Toggs, Vaude, or something else?

Hi, Same recommendation for the Parcho. I have sewn one for me and one for my wife. Both of us are really happy with it : - half the weight of the Ferrino Trekker we used before : less weight in the pack, and less sticky when worn. - "batman" sleeves with lot of space, i.e. more natural...
