Not sure where you are Tessera, but try looking up Merino Country. They have a good range of underwear and some casual wear. Made in Australia from Australian wool. The only underpants I wear now is from them, last for ages! I personally have their Merino Crop Top too, though don't wear it for...
Both my husband and I wore the Anacapa (Breeze) for our Camino Mozarabe. The grip on these is superior to the Challenger (my backup) or the Stinson (hubby's backup) We continued to Santiago via the VDLP to Salamanca and then did the Coastal Portuguese. We ditched the shoes in Santiago...well and...
I sympathise. Maybe instead of a liner use a sheet? For exactly that reason I turned my down sleeping bag into a quilt. Just kept the foot box and I have an elastic that goes around the mattress the prevent it from slipping on the floor. (Haven’t field tested this yet though so fingers crossed...
Big fan of Icebreaker brand. Wear them (nearly) all year round, including the underwear. We're in Queensland, Australia, so height of summer it's only the underwear that gets any use. I love how they have the different weights, so good for layering.
re the cheaper poles: there's wisdom in that. I accidentally left my good ones in a bin and when I returned quite a while later (as I remembered I had left them) they were gone...very distinct poles too but never saw them again. I am still thinking that one person of a very large group at the...
We love the plastic Birkenstock for after the walk. Super light weight, and yes, we did wear socks in them when it was cool. never wore them in the showers, for some reason I hate wearing foot wear when washing myself, but luckily never got any infections/rashes etc either.
Both my husband and I bought the OR lightweight jackets and they performed really well on our camino. Packed away in their own pouch. Different very visibe colours available. Not cheap but the price is forgotten when it performs well.
Hope this link works...
We grew up in the country in the Netherlands, wore clogs a lot and even played soccer in them. More often than not it wasn't only the ball flying towards goal...Once you're used to them I can't see why you wouldn't walk a camino in them (I wouldn't!) but you'll need several pairs as they wear...
while I can't give advise on walking a camino with a child, we have taken our children on multi-day hikes since they were all 6 years old. And they carried small back packs. (And since we were in remote parts of Australia: a radio) I wish we had heard of the Camino's!! So my point is really that...
Such prejudice Paul 😉. I am from Oz, I am definitely not a terrorist and have worn my zip-offs for more than 2500 km in all sorts of terrain and they’re pretty close to what they looked like on the day I bought them. Needless to say I love them.
Each to their own, BC
I am with you! Before my Osprey I have only ever used my trusty old canvas pack, 27 yrs old, still waterproof BUT: heavy! Bought the Osprey and used it on the Via de la Plata, absolutely loved it. Packs well, side pockets are easy as they have a bottom opening, and the vent pocket at the front...
Oh my...I could not imagine anything worse than a G-string when riding a bike!! Mind you, be glad that they didn't go nude under the bike shorts though...that would have been more uncomfortable for everyone else.
