It looks like an umbrella and this holder needs to be purchased before setting out in southern Spain. I found the holder but need LOL--the umbrella! and the color?
Having been in Saudi Arabia, saw many people wearing black...and yet it seems that WHITE or pastel colors are preferable....ANY...
Tonight I am in Burgos and use them every day. Just managing on rocky surfaces but also when you need to jump over long stretches of water, mud. I would not do without. If worried about transport, get the collapsing hiking poles.
Your comment is much appreciated. I leave Bayonne, France for Pamplona on April 4th and then the Camino Frances probably to Burgos. I would like to take my time to reach Santiago and then walk down to Porto, Portugal..so the second leg of the trip might well occur in September. Hola el Meseta y mas.
I have been training with 10 kgs but need to add a CPAP machine, water and some food so we are talking a total of 12 kgs maximum. I have shortened my list down to what I consider bare minimum and still arrive at 10 kgs. It worries me because I failed one Camino already (Olvidado);and don’t want...
I like the way you think…but when I look at the lists of items in pack packs, having walked a part of the Camino with 12kgs, don’t know how to reduce the weight. Seeing folks saying that they walk with 3 to 6 kgs makes me wonder..
Why don’t you use a bunch of cloves that you place in your bag instead of using a chemical agent? Bed bugs hate cloves and will stay away and apparently won’t bite you either.

I don’t think that it is down to preferences: we all walk but we all have different legs, feet, bodies..and there are shoes that fit and others that simply don’t donthe job. With the Columbia, never had a blister, felt like I was walking on a cloud..with thie other two pairs, I found my feet...
I was a fan of Columbia and because the service here is so-so, switching to a Meindle light shoe. Tested an Italian brand but too high, then another American brand too soft on pebbles even with an inside additional sole.
Definitely using NOK cream each day to harden the soles of the feet.
