Hey, me too! Love my Packa. And for heavier and/or cold rain, I add my ULA rain kilt. (I hike in a knee-length Macabi skirt.) The kilt is easy to deploy & undeploy, and the perfect mix of ventilation and wind protection.
My Packa is bright green like yours, and my rain kilt is bright...
I have an extra large single art silk, ordered from their eBay store, and I love it. I put a zipper in the side, since top entry bags drive me crazy and make me feel "trapped".
It's only 6 ounces, and I like the easy to care for art silk just fine.
Thank you - I know it sounded like a stupid question! But wait, there's more! :D
I wasn't sure if "offline" just meant you didn't need wifi. I thought perhaps utilizing a phone's gps required data. So to be clear.....
One can use the phone's gps - therefore not only using offline maps, but...
I know this is a really basic question, but there is a basic thing about the mapping apps I'm not sure I understand.
When using offline maps, are you still using up your phone's "data"?
Wow, the true ultralight unicorn - anti-gravity gear.
So do those 2 weightless pounds have an effect on the gear surrounding them in your pack? You know, like the way a Diet Coke cancels out a bacon cheeseburger?
That's a good idea - that gives you an instant washcloth too, already soapy. No waste!
I want to keep my towel giant, as is, though. It's a good privacy screen too, hanging over the bunk to dry.
But I have 7 more weeks before I finalize my pack and fly out. That is definitely an area that...
I've never had a problem with them breaking, but definitely the sliding problem. I found I could push the pin through the clothesline itself to anchor, if it was a fiber type line.
Here's something I'm not a gram weenie about. I carry a giant towel. It is a beach towel size. (PackTowl, 5...
Oh yes, I do all that. At least, I know to do all that..... but then my mind wanders.....
My (now ex-) hiking partner of 6 years was always berating me about that. I just made him walk first. He was not as head-in-the-clouds as me, and was not snake-blind. And we did have a number of...
Have we? Perhaps. Are there ever any truly new conversations around here?
The cheapo plastic headed nappy pins I linked are pretty darn light. And being larger, with colored heads, they are easier to maneuver and keep track of than smaller ones.
Related..... a few years ago, I was pretty...
I am starting in Almeria, southern Spain, in late May. Very warm, I expect, and I'm going solo. The terrain strikes me very much like my west Texas hiking experiences - kinda hilly/mountainous & desert clime. I wonder if snakes will be an issue?
I am snake-blind. (Yes, that's a thing - I am...
I use that - it's great.
It multi-functions as a personal tarp/sit-upon at picnic time. Also, I don't use it as a pack liner (I don't use a pack liner at all), but it is great to slip my pack into in the evenings at the albergues. It protects physically against bedbugs, dirt and people...
I have that sling bag and use it in all the same ways - very useful!
Except for laundry use. The waterproof-ness of an actual dry bag is required to wash clothes in.
I have a Sea2Summit View dry bag, 8L[/B]
In my pack, it holds my silk sleep sack, my towel, and some detergent & nappy pins.
After walking, I remove the sleep sack to claim my bed, and I put in my toiletries bag, a change of clothes, and my waist pack (which carries my valuables +...
Yes, the walking clothsline! My walking partner 2 years ago spoke fluent Spanish, and overheard a Spanish mother outside a cafe explaining to her surprised young child about the realities of peregrino life when I walked by with a bra and boyshorts pinned to the back of my pack.
Thank you...
Ah, but I am child-free as well. Except for my furry children. I blame a lot of stuff on my cats, but I don't think I could get away with blaming them for my unruly boobs.
The Brooks, alas, is not underwire, and tops out at 38C. I top out, so to speak, at a wee bit more than that.
Yeah, wouldn't be supportive enough. Bras sized as S, M, L, etc have never worked for me either.
As far as passing for a bathing suit top, I've got a pretty low bar for that one anyway. "Not see-thru" pretty much does it. And if I can imagine a bikini top that is skimpier than my bra (and I...
I hate you. I thought I liked you, but no..... :D
My girls demand underwires, all the @#$%@^#& time. Still searching for that elusive underwire, non-uniboob, easy to put on, quick-drying, wicking, comfy, super-supportive-but-not-massive, light-but-opaque-can-pass-for-swimwear, sports bra...
Thanks for the sock tip - they don't seem to be available in the US, at first googling. But I've seen Lidl stores in Spain, as a possible sock replacement source, perhaps?
I'm currently exclusively Balega. Their small sock fits me perfectly, no binding or looseness. Drynamix fabric, quick...
